Not really.
Drove a work Prado last summer, AC blaring on full cold, took about half an hour to get to a nice temp.
The air doesn't come out hard enough and it is not overly cold either.

My Jeep's AC works a treat, much better then the Prado ones.

Toyota reliability is pretty good.
Our old work Prado's (previous model) with 3L D4D Engine, lasted for 250,000kms with very few problems, We sold them at about 250,000k.
They were serviced on time most of the time, and everything was replaced as needed. But being a work car they were not treated nicely by all drivers.
We had 4 and they all lasted for the 250,000kms+. One even was flooded in the 2007 Hunter Foods and still worked despite having a nasty knocking sound in the engine when cold.
However the Holden rodeo with the 3.5L petrol engine we had broke down after about 20,000kms. Even after being fixed it was hard to start every now and then.

So yeah I regards Toyota as pretty reliable vehicles.

The numbers are irrelevant. I was pointing out that if you'd driven the vehicles you would easily realise they are not underpowered cars at all.

Compared to what? They are 7-8 secs to 100kms and high 15 second quarters at best. The peak torque is 336Nm. As I said it is much easier to engineer the engine, driveline, and chassis handle a measly 200kw in this day and age.

Compared to Falcons, Commodores, the models that they compete with.

Falcons and commodore 6's are not quick either. The chassis and driveline of the Falcon and Commodore can handle far more output. So what I have been trying to say all along is that there is a lot less stress placed on the Aurion/camry than the other two. The standard falcon has 383Nm from 2500rpm compared to the Aurion with 336Nm at 4500rpm. The Fords' chassis however also has to handle the power of the 6T and the supercharged 8's.

My comment was directed at the 'no power' comment you made. Once upon a time, 200kw was quite a lot of power champ so I don't think it's fair to say 200kw is 'no power'. I wasn't referring to anything but that, nothing to do with drivetrains or capabilities etc.

Well cars for near on 50 years have been punching out higher torque figures. Torque is what breaks things. Even an XB falcon 6 was pushing out 325Nm at 1600rpm.

Looked at a current Camry service book, and it recommends coolant change at 90 months

When I came to Darwin yes lots of Priuses and Camrys here but I have noticed that i am seeing some FGs making a comback, was talking to one Taxi drivers, and he was saying that it is 3 hour turn over for a Ford taxi service compared to Priuses 3 day turn over. And quite a few terries up here as well.

Ye the driver i spoke to said they use Camry's because the 'others' would'nt keep cool with having the A/C on all the time and the hi humidity.... He never mentioned Prius's and i never saw any or Terri's either.... The turn around time you speak of would make a difference for them for sure.

Spoke to a Geelong taxi driver not too long ago and asked him what they're gonna do now the Falcon wagon is dead (95% of taxis in Geelong/Melb are Falcons) and he reckons they're starting to bring Territories into the fleet. So they're supported down this way at least.

Apologies for the off topic...
In serious off road conditions the diffs don't have a good reputation. I've heard of a lot of them going bang out in the bush from the 4X4 clubs.

Define "serious off road conditions" and which Landcruiser Diff's have you "heard" about going bang a lot.....

Yes, its quite a nice, edgy disign.

I think the Hyundai and Mazda sedan designs have prompted toyota to move in this styling direction.

I hope its not as bland to look at as the current 2011 camry.

As a ex toyota owner i wish them the best but even i know that toyota only make the most generic cars on the planet :(

Except for Lexus.

Its definately the current model. The dash pic is a prototype pic prbably taken back in 2004. Pretty good that a car almost 6 years old can look like a new model.
