3000km Peace Of Mind Service

Hi guys,

I am curious to know if the 3000km "peace of mind service" is worth it?
Is anything done other than inconveniencing you by losing your car for the whole day?
Is your warranty voided by not attending this "service"?

The service took an hour when I got my car done last week.

I just waiting in the waiting room, grabbed a coffee & did some work on the laptop.

I never got anything out of it (no issues with the car) other then the feeling of if anything happens down the track the lack of a 3000km service (which is free) won't come back and bite me.

They put the car up on the hoist to make it look like they're doing something, put it down, fill up the washer bottle, spray some anti corrosion on the batery terminals and she's good to go.

Basically they just check over the car, top up fluids and take it for a test drive.

Ford in Rocky took it in, checked it over, noticed that the drivers seat squeeked when moving between the different memory positions for myself and my wife (I'd noticed it too but assumed it was just the leather rubbing on something or something that needed lubing), and they said the seat runners needed replacing under warrantee...something was out of whack and was causing the noise. Took about an hour.

It mightn't affect your warrantee...but then again, if something did happen to go wrong before the next service in a big way (highly unlikely...but you never know), then they could possibly say "Well why didn't you bring it in for the "peace of mind" service? We could have caught it early at that one".

+1 When it comes time for resale it never hurts to have a full compliment of Ford stamps in your log book.

You do not have to do it for warrenty however as has been said I would advise getting it done just incase they notice something & to have that stamp in the book.

I always take that service as a time to get anything fixed I may have noticed is wrong so that is another way to look at it though mostly not much has been wrong at 3000 k's lol

The Focus actually didn't move from where it was parked, and judging by the leaves on the bonnet I don't think they looked at the engine bay. Still, its nice to have the stamp.

I would suggest to pay extra and get an oil change done. I think I paid about $120 - $160 extra.

It’s a new engine that’s running in, it’s good to change the oil more frequently and drive it like you stole it …

Probably both...my peace of mind knowing that they caught the seat runner issue early before it became a real pain or damaged something, and the dealers peace of mind that they have caught anything the factory slipped up on doing and which was missed at pre-delivery...which happens more often than you'd think.
