Default Re: VE 6 cylinder hush up?

Yet some people here support a V6 in the Falcon? They're mostly terrible motors and these sorts of issues are common on V6 engines across many brands.

I6 is the king of the six cylinder range. No ifs or buts.

Recalls are only done for safety related issues and are completely irrelevant to what is being discussed here.

Unlike the 4.0 I-6 that can't put away the SV6 in acceleration tests, a 3.7 Port injected Ford V6 would....

No ifs, no buts....

And don't even start on the turbo I-6, the Ecoboost V6 has that more than covered...
A truck version of the EB V6 that makes its (regulated) power on 91 ULP is a generation in front..

270 Kw/ 525 nm versus 270 Kw/ 565 nm....you be the judge....

Looking to the future, the Aussie dollar is already slipping back under parity and if this trend continues,
a litre of fuel will soar which means that six cylinder buyers will be looking for something else to buy.
A smart move by Ford to introduce EcoLPI and Ecoboost I-4 right when petrol prices take off....

I wonder what Holden will do.....they have nothing in the cupboard to go with Ford except dodgy dual fuel V6....

Have a engine light coming on sometimes too, Holden dealer just clears the code and gives the car back. Will make sure I pay more attention as to what code it is next time.

Still love the car though. It's great.
Boss engines were not immune to this. Oil consumption. This is from new.

I understand all of this, but when you look at the trouble some manufacturers have had with timing chains over the years. Mitsubishi Sigma's would go through timing chains every 80 to 100k, EA Falcons had heaps of problems with timing chains, tensioners and guides, BA V8's had all sorts of timing tensioner and guide problems, Now the VE commodore is having regular problems. Any car that gets high km's say 400,000 will need a timing chain before the engine needs a rebuild. Falcons get real noisy chains at about 250,000kms, I have owned them, replaced them and heard other cars with them. I have first hand seen Falcon timing chains snap with over 250,000kms. I have not heard of any Timing belts that have had this sort of regular problems in a particular model, but this is probably because they are replaced every 100,000kms and never see 250,000kms like chains. Ducati Motor cycles all run belts as they are very quick to change (about 1 hr compared to 4hrs for a chain) and the belts dont seam to stretch so cam timing stays more constant. There is definately a place for both but if they get chains wrong it get be a very big night mare for a manufacturer

I think you should use a broader brush to make stupid generalizations next time.
