Hi guys,
I imported 3 Autometer Cobalt gauges from the USA along with the mounting cups. Now unless I’m missing something they don’t fit... Due to the copper looking thread, the cup doesn’t seem to fully fit the gauge. Using my hands only, it doesn’t seem like the thread can be removed either from the rear of the gauge. Am I missing something or has the wrong cups been shipped?      Thanks in advance guys

I would've thought that when you put them in, you drill the holes for the bolt's to go through, then trim the bolts down once they are all fitted??...

Many yrs ago I had a similar one, cobalt aswel and dont remember doing this....
The only thing I remember coming out the rear of the cups is the wiring....

Is it a used gauge, because it should be sitting on 0psi?

my cobolts are the same. theyre just the guages for mounting in a flat panel, as opposed to a cup. no biggie at all. should have come with a 3 sided bracket that fits over the the threaded rods, and holds it onto a panel. edit: like this...

Yeah,had the same problem mountig my fuel pressure gauge to the cup to mount on my wiper cowl.
I just trimmed the threads short enough to fit. The cups mounting ring holds the gauge in tight. To get a clean look on the backs of the cups, i got the ones with a hole in the bottom, and used a right angle brass adapter thread. Cheers, Craig

A few years ago when I bought a set of Autometer gauges I had the same problem. I just cut the thread off.
If the gauges are loose in the holder just run a ring of sticky tape around the body of the gauge to make it a tighter fit. |
