As above again guys I just brought a 1.6l escort engine but the seller was very scetchey on what it came out of. Does anyone know how to tell?

Assuming your engine number is the same as the VIN number, eg CK40UT123456k, digits 5&6 identify year and month of production
The above example would be - C - CKD vehicle imported from UK K - assembled in Hombush, Sydney 40 - Escort 2 door 1600 UT - built 1978, April |

does this mean the engine was built in may 1999. Not sure what the 50 means?
