Awesome car, should look even better with the XR8/ Rebel styling...
Interested to hear the use of mondeo and monaro side glass, now thats an 'adapt and overcome' way of doing it, very impressive...

Nothing's set in concrete, but I have a set of a set of Argo rods and an inlet manifold from a T3, so that's the start of a 347 Tickford style.
A good set of aluminium heads, ~10.5 comp, and a reasonable cam.

400-450hp is plenty, and a standard block can hold that together ok.

Obviously ditch the shielas slusho for a real gear box with a clutch.

It only has 3.23 gears now, but I have a 3.45 LS center here, maybe shorten that to 3.7 to, dunno yet.

I'll likely fit the 322mm B series brakes, cheap and work really well.
Did it on the wagon and they're fantastic for road use.

Today I fitted some King super lows that I had lying about, that actually raised it a little, as it was way too low for anything practical.

I think there's a 27mm front bar lying around here somewhere too.
And a complete XR interior.

So yeh, bit of work to do, but there's no hurry, it's pretty nice as it is.

I agree re the ride height, XR trim (Dark leather) and 322 brakes (with Terry rears ) . Getting an Rebel and AU XR front would just make it for looks. BUT I'm unsire if a TE/TS front would work may be time to Photoshop the front

It's a no brainer, I love the look of the S2/3 XR front, but the T3 fronts do nothing for me.

The main reason I like the rebel kit is because it's perhaps the most integrated body kit available.
It really looks like part of the car rather than a bolt on afterthought.

Subtle, yet sporty and mildly aggressive.

Whoever designed it deserves a medal.

As good as a T3 is, the kit looks like a bolt on wannabe racer kit.

Not wanting to offend our T Series comrades but I AGREE.
BUT you now have to start a AU Workshop thread !
OR you could ask the Moderators for an AU Coupe section (you could be the Moderator !)

Nah not meant to offend at all, we don't all like the same thing.
In any case, they're great cars.
And, I don't like kit on the P250 either, but it didn't stop me buying one.

Yeh, probably should start a build thread.

Actually looks way better in the picture you took of it. Congrats on the purchase mate. Your idea for the redesign will add some much needed sleekness and take away the short and tall look it has atm

What's it like to drive compared to a standard AU XR8 Sox?

Much the same as a normal AU of it's type, can't say I notice any difference in the body/flex characteristics.
Just feels like a Fairmont Ghia.

I haven't really pedaled it that hard yet either, so my opinion could change over time.

Power wise compared to my XR8, it's gutless, my XR is a 220 with tri-y's, better mufflers and a real gearbox.
No real comparison there.

Holy poo congrats! Finally someone on the forums with one.

I lust after that oxford green AU1 XR styled coupe that was getting around. Good news thats its with you mate have fun.

Interesting the builder kept the colour though, after all that work I personally would have gone for something a bit more sporty. I actually think it would be interesting to see it with a T2 style or even back to a Ghia.
