My brother's buying a KE Laser Ghia auto as a cheap daily. Is there anything in particular to look out for?
The body looks straight, doesn't appear to be any rust, and there's only a slight crack in the dashboard. It looks good, from the outside, has done 124,000kms only.

Like all front wheel drive’s, check the CV joints, find a parking lot and drive the car in a circle on full lock both ways and listen for any clunks/noises.
Check under the distributor with your finger for oil, there is a o-ring on the shaft that is common for leakage, very easy and cheap to fix though. Apart from that there is very little to check apart from the common stuff like brake pads, oil condition and coolant status, as for rust just check all drainage areas and make sure they aren’t blocked, like under the door seals on each door and lift up the rear hatch and look in the wheel arch wells which are all very easy to get to while your there check the condition of the gas struts and if they hold the rear door/hatch up ok, they are a very robust and great little car, I’ve had many over the years and never had any major concerns. |
