One of my mates is currently fishing for Barramundi on Proserpine dam. Unfortunately for me, I couldnt attend the said fishing trip, being around 1200km south of him. But He assures me he will call me, and let me hear the barra sizzling on the bbq on sunday. All I can say is "BASTARD"...

But working at Woolies has its privelidges, you have to get something cheap, they try to get as much work out of staff for as little financial commitment as possible........

I shop there, but only cos it is a stonesthrow from my work ... do seem somewhat tight-fisted.

Has the arrival of the German Aldi stores had any impact to Safeway and Coles sales/profits?

I wouldn't think so. Aldi only have a fraction of the lines that Coles and Woolies do and most of them are generic brands so you end up having to go to Coles or Woolies anyway to get what Aldi don't stock. Aldi aren't that cheap anyway, I've seen similar stuff at Coles/WW cheaper, not necessarily the exact same brand stuff though. Coles/WW would have greater buying power with more stores than Aldi so would easily be able to match or beat Aldi prices if they have to.

Seems half of the world has worked for them

I did night fill for 3 years to get the funds to build and race my own car
That was the good old days work all day, work half the night sleep 2-3 hours and do it all over again then spend all weekend doing my own thing, funny thing I don't remember ever getting tired, Just lived on adrenalin I suppose.

Could not do it now, too old and fat.

Let me give you some advice if you're even considering working for Woolies.

Don't! :togo:

I have just been knocked back applying for a job at Woolies. In the IT Division based at Parramatta and the lame excuses they give for turning me down.

Their IT helpdesk are the second most unhelpful bunch of people I have to deal with.
Only surpassed by the "Supermarket Helpdesk". Apparently there are only 2 of them answering the phones for every store in the country.

90% of our bakery products now come in frozen, salads in produce and deli are prepacked.
In our store none of the staff will eat any bread cooked instore because the baker is the most disgusting, filthy excuse for a person we know.
