Chairman's Award: Chairman's Award - Issue reason: Your outstanding contributions to this community have not gone unnoticed. IN my view you are a worthy recipient of the (rarely used) Chairman's Award.
Default Sydney Panel Shop Prices…

I’ve just been quoted $850 to prep and paint a bare plastic bumper. No R&R, just take the bumper, paint it to match and give it back.

Expensive? Would have thought from $500-$650. I’m open to suggestions my wallet is out of calibration.

Sounds about right to me, you can get other quotes for more accurate costing.
Remember nothing is cheap these days unless you are willing get cheap dodgy work done, price is for quality.

We quote roughly a grand to paint a panel, but that includes strip and blend in most cases.

Once you add up materials time and labour your at $500, plus to do a 1 off job takes from the real money jobs, booth time is the same for 1 panel as it would be for a full side, so a profit of $350 out of it is pretty much in the ball park, especially if they guarantee their work.

At the price, I’d hope it’s guaranteed. I’ll be checking in with a couple of different places - one is productivity focused, while the other is simply close by.

Bar (used) $110
Strip $300
Plastic welding $170

Starting to add up. I’m definitely under-insured on my cars at these figures.
