I’ve just been quoted $850 to prep and paint a bare plastic bumper. No R&R, just take the bumper, paint it to match and give it back.
Expensive? Would have thought from $500-$650. I’m open to suggestions my wallet is out of calibration. |

We quote roughly a grand to paint a panel, but that includes strip and blend in most cases.
Once you add up materials time and labour your at $500, plus to do a 1 off job takes from the real money jobs, booth time is the same for 1 panel as it would be for a full side, so a profit of $350 out of it is pretty much in the ball park, especially if they guarantee their work. |

At the price, I’d hope it’s guaranteed. I’ll be checking in with a couple of different places - one is productivity focused, while the other is simply close by.
Bar (used) $110 Strip $300 Plastic welding $170 Starting to add up. I’m definitely under-insured on my cars at these figures. |

A local shop came in at $550+ with an estimate of 2-3 days turnaround.
Think I’ll give that a whirl - it’s a front bumper, first thing in the firing line for most cars. A bonnet or turret, different story - definitely want quality and durability there. |

Results were pretty reasonable, it took a calendar week overall.
Overall I felt the shop was a little larger than I prefer to deal with, perhaps that’s the trade-off for a lower price. |

I think with all the ongoing work be it large or small shop a week is fine imo.
Reasonable ? that isn't good enough to me by the sound of it.
