Don't forget to add tuning to the value of $350 on top of that.

I had a Unichip - quite happy with it, but for the extra dosh you'd be better to fork out for one of the flash tuners. You can get a lot more variables tuned out of one of the flash tuners.

I have one very happy with it does all i want. Live on dyno air fuel and ignition what more do you reallly need. For $250 plus the same to tune on dyno not bad really. Flash tuners are better but could you get one for $250

If when you say same mods, as in spot on same, then yeah. However if he has the same "mods" but in different configurations/models then it's best to get a retune for optimum performance/efficiency

Nothing wrong with the Unichip...my XR8 went fantastic with it and for the little mods which had been done to her Edit would not have changed a thing.
If you dont have the extra coin for the more popular edit second hand unichip is a bargain nowadays.....

I've got one and for the time being will be keeping it. I intend on putting a cam in my ute so when the time comes I will make the decision whether to turf the chip and get the edit or just retune the chip.

Basic mods with the unichip are fine but itis a bit out dated when you start getting the serious mods cam, head work ext. but at the right price it works for me .. :Reverend:

Sounds a bit risky to me...too many variables to know if it will be safe (or work at all), even with the same model car and "combo" of mods.

If you are keen, then plug it in and see what happens. If there is no pinging or any other obvious problems, then take it to a dyno to check air to fuel ratio under load.

Dont get up it until you are sure there is no pinging and that AFR is OK.

Probably OK to try but don't expect ti to work. I got one off an EF with a dev5 kit and it wouldn't run at all well in mine at all. budget on an install a loom and a tune even with S/Hand. it makes the flash tune look like still a viable option

no two engines are the same, even with same mods. you may be lucky and the tune is close enough, but for piece of mind, i would at least get the AFRs checkes
