Finally got a tradie around to have a look at my water damaged ceiling. It happened on Australia Day
What's funny about it is that I emailed the body corp asking for some contacts and heard nothing then I get a call out of the blue on Wednesday asking about Thursday. I said I can be at home on Thursday or Friday and he said he would call be back in the arvo. Of course I heard nothing I was on the way to work this morning when I got a message so given how early it was figured it would be important and to my surprise it was the tradie asking if he can turn up so. So hooked a U turn and went back home. He actually showed up on time and said 'yeah that's ****ed' so will do up a quote for insurance. So happy that is sorted The bonus was a **** meeting I was not looking forward to was moved to Monday and my testing on my proof of concept to solve a **** problem is looking good |

I took the day off today and dropped the car for a service. They said the AFM was gone which considering the car is nearly 18 years old is a pretty good run. So they put in a new one and reset the ECU.
It felt good pulling onto the highway after getting it done. It seemed a bit sluggish before but now seems better if not brutal |

A pair of grey nomads in a QLD registered dual cab, towing an offroad caravan north towards the M1, this morning.
What made me feel good was the totally competent piloting of this rig; kept up with the traffic, braked sensibly, protected its space subtly but effectively, stayed dead centre of the lane. It was calm and confidence-inspiring. If all caravanners drove like this, it would be no problem to share the roads with them. |

I visited the animal shelter where I adopted my cat Simba today, and donated some money to them. Since adopting Simba back in January 2016, I've kept in regular contact with them. I hope it helps them a little bit, to continue rehoming the many cats and dogs, that end up there each year.
That made me feel good today..............

A few things today. So tonight was dinner at my local with my kid and my mum. On my mums drive over she called me having an oh **** moment. She had a zoom meeting after dinner and is the one who takes the minutes, but was out of note pads. So she does what i think a lot of people do, jots notes, then types it up and emails it later. So i said I'll sort it. I was 3 minutes late to dinner, but i rocked up with an a4 note pad and even though she has pens, pens. So that was 1 fire out, even if it was no real effort for me, it was appreciated.
And my local put duck spring rolls back on the menu. I like them, my kid loves them, and whilst my mum tries not to like them, shes given up and just goes with it. Then theres the chocolate machine. Yes they're rigged, but my kid may be deaf as a post, but he has a good eye. He cleaned the thing out for $6. And he's funny, smart enough to know his allergies, so he sorts them out into nuts or not. So the ones with nuts go to grandma, and he is allowed 1 before dinner, and 1 after dinner. But he always tries to haggle with me. Its an argument he is never going to win, but he tries. Its probably the best part about having a kid when if they dont act up and you dont need to go dad mode, you can treat them like a little brother, have fun. I have a mate whos a year older then me and his little brother is 3 weeks older then my kid. |

My daughter has been suffering mental health issues for the last couple of weeks, to the point where she harmed herself (thankfully, it wasn't a serious attempt and she really only did superficial damage).
My ex had her for the first week and did an awesome job to get her back into a better place. Then it was my turn this week. I wasn't able to get her off to school on Monday, so I worked to get the school on board with what was going on and potentially provide her with some easing of pressure and also arranged for the daughter's counselling appointment to be brought forward urgently to get her the professional assistance she needed. I took yesterday off from work as I was mentally and physically exhausted. Some people may consider this to be 'new age' and 'soft', but it's nice every now and then to have a 'me' day. Today, the daughter went off to school without any qualms. That made me feel good, to see her back into a far healthier and happier mental state.

…Getting a request to fit off bathroom hardware at super-short notice, do-and-charge. Normally these days I’d have to knock it back, but by coincidence I’ve booked the superstar personal carer for 3.5hrs tomorrow. So I can just make it work.

A new PB for trivial communications, had a chuckle.
Ten email messages from Fleabay to buy a $6.50 brass airline tee. One response to my inquiry on thread sizing, then nine taking me through all stages of purchase including successful delivery. |

Finally after a near 3 month wait the new outboard for my tender rolled up. After over 10 years use the old 15hp 2 stroke has been retired, much to the relief of my right arm, the 9.9 4 stroke is a little gem and still gets us along at just under 20 knots but the best thing is it's as quiet as a mouse (relatively speaking) and twice as economical, it's a little cracker

I had a 9.9 on an Avon rubber duck years ago and it fairly motored along. I used to take it out to a couple of mates trawlers off Maggie Island and fill it with prawns and bugs for the trip back home. |

Apparently it draws around the pick up tube , so when the keg is finished it will have sediment around the outer perimeter just like in a stubbie but a clear patch around the pickup.. learn sonething new everyday

Spent the day out in Yea, about 1.5hr out of Melb. Drove through the Black Spur, wow, forgotten what a nice cruise it is. Didn't hit one caravan or truck on the way there OR back.
Took a 20km hike with the dog. Well, I was on a bike but the dog runs all day long. Oh my, haven't had one of those in ages! |

Perfect 25 deg day and a great recky ride into Benalla Reef state park.
This place is one of the lesser known goldrush areas of N.E Victoria but has some challenging trails running all through it and into the foothills of the Strathbogie ranges.
