That breakfast is so Kiwi. I remember my grandfather calling porridge “burgoo”, I think it was a corruption of burghul, brought back from old wars.

Davison or Waters !!!!! Either doesn't matter .. A Blue Oval looking car finally wins a race in 2022... About bloody time ...controversy on the penalty or not .,
And the Tigers thumped West Coast on Friday night ...And the Jack Jumpers in their first NBL season won a finals game against MU ...So cool .. Last edited by roddy1960; 01-05-2022 at 06:30 PM. |

Good result in the end.

It dawned on me the other day that we now have a white Fairmont for a run around. And for a few years in the 70s our family car was a white XA 302 Tbar Fairmont which I loved as a kid.
I have a good memory for numbers and can recall most of the number plates fitted to the many cars that have come and gone so yesterday I punched the plate number of the old XA into SAreg website and discovered the old R-series plate is available. A one off fee of $85 and my AU will be wearing our old XA plates in 10 working days time. More to this story is I shared this info with a good friend last night. We've known each other since we were very young and it happens to be that when my dad sold the XA to make room for a Cortin wagon, he sold it to my friends dad, so the XA became his family's car also. So his reaction to me securing those old plates was "But they're my dads plates!!" Nah bud, my dad owned the Fairmont first, then he sold it to your dad, oh and your dad trashed it. I still recall the day seeing the car in their driveway, unwashed, aerial broken. Had a look inside, console lid missing.... what have you done?!? Anyway, finding those plates were available made me feel good Last edited by ford71V8; 25-04-2022 at 11:44 AM. |

Local shopping strip, not long ago today. I am with my old bike, ancient Bell helmet from when helmets became mandatory, I'm picking up rubbish, bloke offers me a cigarette. I thank him, but no thanks. He would have been a lot less well off than me and it was a nice gesture from him.

I won’t have cobwebs, old dust, paint flakes, spiders and mites dropping on my head today - washed clean the work area yesterday afternoon.

Good score RocKWiz
Today I went to my local pet store where we are members. Went to get my usual 20kg bag of dog food, nearly $170. Said to the girl at the counter "Has this really gone up in price?" (paid about $100 last time) She said it had, but because we're members she'll go on line for me and price match. Gave me $46 off. Gee if I hadn't have queried it...

Chicken breast@ average $10per kg X 20kg = $200. + electricity and time
beef mince @ $12per kg X 20kg = $240. _ electricity and time. and thats without buying the vegies or rice

Yeah sorry I underestimated the total cost.I use beef mince at about$10kg.carrots at about $1.50kg and celery at about $3 bunch, makes about 20kg for around $140kg but I only make 2-3kg at a time.

I do that too, half and half. Cheap mince and cheap shredded chicken thighs with spud and carrot.

Picked up my disabled brother (just got diagnosed with dementia too poor guy) from his care home in the yellow XC and went for a drive to the coast and along the coast line.
An orange and black GTS Monaro tagged in behind me, we got lots of looks and finger pointing. Wish I could have got a photo. My brother thought it was pretty cool, giving the Monaro the thumbs up. Then we had coffee and muffins in the park near home. Good day, he's now happily watching an old Harrison Ford movie (his favourite actor after Luke Skywalker) before I have to take him back, he won't be happy then.
