Data valid as at 23:59 GMT November 10th, 2020.

Note: As not all Australian States report at the same time, the data below is based on the previous full day reporting except for the Victorian 14 day moving averages.

10 new cases for Australia and no deaths so the CMR drops to 3.277% while active cases rise to 1,314. NSW recorded 5, SA, WA, Queensland and the NT recorded 1 case each. Victoria reported no new cases for the last 24 hours for the 11th consecutive day.

1 new cases and no deaths for NZ so CMR is 1.258% and active cases rise to 52.

The UK had a lower 20,412 new cases yesterday. We know they are now not counting their mortalities by the WHO guidelines so we are going to ignore the CMR but even using their method they recorded 532 deaths.

Just over 127k new cases in the USA yesterday and 647 deaths sees CMR drop to 2.345% and active cases rise to 34.8% with the raw numbers rising and now over 3.6M. Note that the USA is actually minus one day due to time differences.

Other notable points:
Europe passes 300k deaths;
The USA completes 160M, India 119M, South Africa 5M, Singapore 4M and Iraq 3M tests.

Albania (563) - for the 8th consecutive day;
Algeria (753) - the previous high on July 24th;
Belarus (1,038);
Serbia (2,823);
Georgia (2,970) - for the 8th consecutive day;
Bulgaria (4,390);
Jordan (5,996); and
Russia (21,798) on 9/11;

... all
recorded new daily highs; those in blue for the second consecutive day and those in red for a third or more consecutive days.

I am surprised by how the testing numbers still are - a credit to the people showing up and a bigger credit to the tireless workers doing the testing, it must get so monotonous

Getting tested for the sake of it seems like a waste of time and resources. Sure, asymptomatic cases will be caught but a negative result is only relative to that day you got tested.

In Sydney they are testing the poo water and still finding traces of the virus.

I'm wondering if the traces are residual from past positives that are now virus free? Considering that it was (still is??) believed that the virus stays in your system after you are cleared and provides some immunity?

I heard 26,000 tests were done around the Hills district after the sewer findings were announced but no word on if there were any positives.

Exactly, but if they are screening tens of thousands randomly then some positive will show up eventually, if they are out there

If people show up to a hospital ED with cold or flu like symptoms they will be tested, same as if they show up to their local GP, they won't need to be going to a testing station

No testing needs to trend up, its about the only way you can try and predict anything.

So we are planning to come to VIC for Christmas, guess we will have to buy some masks? Whats the limit on groups?

At the moment masks are still mandatory (not that you'd know it from the media coverage). Groups in private homes are still limited to 2 adult visitors in metro and 10 in regional areas and from 22/11 it will be 10 visitors for metro as well.

From that date (22/11) hospitality venues can increase to 100 indoors and 200 outdoors and there are also increases in the size of other public gatherings (wedding, funerals etc.). Public gatherings will go up to 50 people. Indoor gatherings will still have caps dependant on venue type and a density limit of one person per 4m2.

Thanks, so looks like we will be OK, most of the family is in Metro. Shall wait and see what the 22/11 brings and whether work classes any of those area's as hot spots.

That's the catch at the moment, travelling is one thing, its the return quarantining that may make it not viable.

You sure about that one, Russ? The page I linked above says that Vic metro and regional are on the same restrictions and the cap of 2 visitors per day per household applies to both?

OK, so if I am reading this correctly then people over Christmas can only have 10 in a house at once? And this is from the 22/11.

serious question, so we go to my son's place who lives on 2.5 acres and we don't go inside, we sit around outside, in the pool etc, can we have 50, what is the definition of 'home' and 'outside'

I believe "outside" is also explained as having to be in a public place, so not on someones property

I thought outside is still reference to parks etc not your home, I'm sure someone here will correct me on this.
It will be interesting to see what Danny boy allows for Xmas day gatherings the number of people allowed in homes.
Remember Dan did say this will be a Covid Xmas so don't hold your breath for large numbers.

Looks like I will have to break out the white collar - it is Xmas Day so it is a 'religious gathering'
