Was that using 91 unleaded or 95/98 fuel?

i run my car with nulon fast flowing oil, & nulon pro-stength octane booster. Well not really, but i thought id keeping the pattern of the thread going

i think 15km's for every 10L of fuel would be alot closer for my windsor

wasn't too bad for the big v8, i didn't exactly do the speed limit the whole way so would of been a bit better if i did.
That's good, on hwy mine gets 10.9, only difference it's a ute.

That's a good analogy.
The 2.3 Mondeo drinks around the same amount of fuel as FG I-6 on the Urban cycle,
gets slightly better economy on the Extra urbans and then ends up with a lower combined.
I have an awful feeling that this car would be branded a thirsty slug but, the Ecoboost 2.0
would be a completely different matter due to the abundance of low end torque..

My wish is for a 2.3 litre I-6 Ecoboost for the Falcon, such an engine takes Falcon
back to its roots as an economical six cylinder, IMO that set up would get 8.5 l/100 km
while punching out 210 Kw and 420 nm - the perfect combination for people who want:
1) a Falcon with I-6
2) a falcon with great fuel economy
3) a Falcon that drives like a baby V8.

Give the man a cigar!

Spot on.... When you drive the big falc in peak hour traffic...watch the smile get wiped off your face quicker than you can say BP

When most smaller engined cars will nett @ 5-7 L/100 on a highway cruise it makes the Falcon ridiculously expensive still. So unless you're towing a horse float the smaller engined cars will fit the bill 90% of the time and save you a packet after your cruise. The falc is a great car with a great engine....but most people dont give a $4!7. When the hip pocket hurts.....

I know there are a lot of roadworks and we had to slow down. But thats phenomanal economy..Ecolpi or Ecoboost would be hard to beat that.
Then, driving around Rocky and out to Yeppoon a few times, it did..
10.22km/l or 28.89 mpg or 9.78l per 100kms.
Our BF XR6 with ZF 6Speed, does 9.7L/100kms with me driving it.
With the Mrs in it, it goes lower, best we've had it is 9.6L/100kms, everyday driving.

I'd expect better gains on freeway driving.

I dont really see why it would have to stay a I6. Other than the sheep believing all V6's are revvy, gutless engines after sampling a Commodore.

At 100ks an hr, i average between 5.9 lt & 7.2 lt per100k.
Town driving, roughtly 13.1 lt per 100k

On my way to Sorrento last week this is what i averaged 50 ks from destination... Not bad... especially with the power I'm running. Goes to show the boys at BluePower know how to tune with economy in mind.

Average speed of 26kmh/r and still get 14/100kms or 550kms to the tank on E10 and high 8's on the highway, not bad for a gunker 4 speed with no lock up.

So my last picture further up the page showed 32.2L/100kms
I also found this picture on my computer

That is from the big V8 engine.

It's not had to manipulate the fuel consumption to make it look however you please.

I had training in Melbourne CBD for a week and drove in. My FG XR6 LE on gas got 11.7l/100k. That is pretty good considering I was stuck in the peak hour crawl.

@ Manipulating fuel consumption.... Why wld you want to do that?

Go for your life if that's what you like to do. No 'manipulated' fuel consumption needed here. It's all genuine.

For sure, lol

My XC 302 at last check was using about 26-29L/100kms on LPG.
If only gas was still cheap....

That's why you take a video, like I did with my old FG XR6 The I6 motors get very good economy, this particular XR6 was modified and tuned, running close to 200rwkw at its peak, but still did ~7l/100km on my daily commute to the city - much like the results CSV8 has got in this thread.

Best we've had in our turbo terri is in the 10's per 100. That was going 110-130 with 4 people and a boot load of luggage with some exciting overtaking as well.
In the city its 13-15 so we are more than impressed... after owning a 100 series landcruiser

Want good fuel economy?

Turn off your aircon, drive only at night when it is cool, never exceed 80km/h, never use the brakes, never accelerate faster than 10km/hour/minute.

In a thousand km journey you could save $50..........at only $5 per hour....

me and the misses drove from toowoomba to bunderberg did abit of driving around the area. did 500kms before puting fuel more fuel in the car and it used 39litres for 500kms (mainly highway driving) fastest i did was 120km/h but mostly sat at 100km/h an hour. air con on for a little bit at first too help demister clear front windscreen. I dont know why when that 3L v6 commodore was realised holden bragged about getting 900kms out of a tank when i felt that my dirty old falcon could achive this easy.

Thats about the same as I get out of a 2010 FG XR6 with 6 speed auto highway and high 9's-11L per 100Kms around the city going to work Not as great as a smaller car but still impresive for the power and size.

I use Caltex Vortex 98..or Shell V Power. at $1.65l !!!!!!!!!!
Coming home, it used 50.95l for 660kms.
I agree with the difference in open road and city driving. But I wasn't able to maintain a steady 100km/hr. Bruce Highway is crap!!! So many speed restrictions!! But city driving I get around 550kms for 50l. Thats going to work on the Ipswich Motorway, when its not a parking lot!!!!!

A few from our old AU I6, aircon never turned off

This was a summer round trip, Sydney-Port Stephens-Muswellbrook-Mudgee-Lithgow.
Topped it up in Lithgow.

No idea about this one... But it was a colder day...

Used to be able to get good economy out of my old AU ute I figured that if I filled it up I would get to Sydney back to Coffs from the Sunshine Coast.

Was dual fuel mind you...

I thought this was pretty respectable for a 15 year old car. A/C and cruise control set to 111 km/hr down the Hume Fwy.
