I may get flamed for this, but I can't see any of the ba/f xr8's ever being collectable.Possibly the xr6t/phoon,but there really arn't any standout v8's in the ba/f stable.

Au111 xr8's & te/s 50's however.All the right ingrediants.Last of the legendary 5.0 litre windsors,factory hotted up,extrovate looks,limited build no's etc.

Perfect mix for a future investment.

Very true. My mates dad is a car journo and he still rates it as one of the most fun cars he's had to date along with the audi RS6, he loved it and he doesnt exactly test drive hyandais. We are talkin about massaratties, porches, farraries, FPV's, HSV's etc.

mick webb also produced a batch of around 20, EB V8 svo's in 1992. recaro's, momo wheel, bilsteins, 16" alloys etc.maybe worthy of a spot on there somewhere?

No Flaming just people's thoughts and all welcome, i will debate ( not flame ) the Devil R and the Enforcer as 2 BA XR's that were limted build and have a high probability simply due to the low build numbers becoming collectable

I don't really see them as a limited model in there own right though.I would class them more like the moffet xc sedans, trying to cash in on racing succses, rather than trying to build a good car.

Imo they are an xr8 with a couple of options and stickers.

If you want a colectable xr8 I'd be looking at the sprint.
Gt engine,no frills and the fastest e-series built.I'd compare them as closer to the formula of the classic era gt's than anything ford has built since the xe esp.

4vclevo I like your list, except for the sticker packs, My guess is collectors cars should maybe have racing pedigree or be an outstanding performance model for its era.

I added BA MkI as I think it would be more collectable than a MkII and I moved 40th Anniv up as I think (pending future releases) that it will be the most sought after BA/F in years to come.

XD John Goss Special

Added Sierra RS/RS500, XE/ZL Turbo prototypes/specials, XA/B McLeod Ford "Horn Cars" and XY/A Jack Brabham Specials.

Just to clarify on the Phase 5 issue, this was a homlogation special for group c racing built by Phase 5 Autos started by Ford designer Wanye Draper and Murray Carter. This was done after Fomoco Aus expressed no desire to go motor racing and refused to homlogate the XD Falcon.
Draper designed the aerokit and then Phase 5 built a small run of XDs with 351s, 4spds etc and the full Group C flares. Others after the initial homlogation run ran smaller flares.
Not to be confused with the John Goss Special XD (Which also featured the full width Group C flares)...Oh! I should add that too the list.

Should I add the Laser Carla Zampatti edition?

I guess it depends on how you view or define "collectable".. for me its cars with Bathurst or race herritage...
my list would be:

XRGT
XTGT
XWGT
XWGTHO Phase 1, 1.5 and 2
XYGT
XYGTHO Phase 3
XAGT
XAGTHO Phase 4
XAGT RPO 83
XBGT
I guess the XC Cobra has shown to be "collectable" too.

IMO nothing after 1978 is "collectable" to me.

Congratulations, I think this thread just named every Ford produced since 1967 as a collectable.

Define 'collectable'

A stamp can be worth more then a XA GT, while a XYGT can be worth more then a house. Are houses collectable ? Personally I collect money, it consumes 5/7ths of my week.

Anyone here got more then one of the above mentioned cars. Who is collecting them other then investors and auction houses who are really just collecting money.

i'd like to collect em! just don't have a big enough budget or garage! If i did i would own several XB-XC coupes,as well as many other cars from other stables. A collectable is only woth as much as someone is willing to pay for it, while the prices are going up at the moment ask yourself, would you really pay half a million bucks for a xy gt p3, when a good replica that drives just as well if not better, still turns the heads and doesn't have to stay in "original condition", can be bought for way less and driven more? real cars are driven not hidden!

The listings was from what people thought from MOST collectable to the LEAST of the so called collectables. Thats my interpretation of DOC's original thoughts. Being so, me and I (both of us) would say that a TS50 is collectable and should be somehwere on the list ......... but please stop sticking the PHASE 5 up! It was not a model or special or anything!

Eventually if things stayed on track, every car could possibly be listed with the XF falcon and AU Forte Series 1 at the bottom! :yeees:

Eventually if things stayed on track, every car could possibly be listed with the XF falcon and AU Forte Series 1 at the bottom! :yeees:
All given lists are good, the TV interview stated that it was a market that many mum and dad investors could enter into with many lower priced cars, so these would also be on the list and in a way the list could help people indentify some of these lower priced cars now and be that a mum and dad investor. at the end of the day enjoying the car ( for me anyway ) is also important, there is some thing special cruising in an old skool car watching the modern heaps of crap fly past.

XYGT
XYGTHO Phase 3
XAGT
XAGTHO Phase 4
XAGT RPO 83
XBGT
I guess the XC Cobra has shown to be "collectable" too.

IMO nothing after 1978 is "collectable" to me.

I think your list represent's the collecable ford muscle cars (except the cobra :P ),not so much the collectable fords in general.

While the muscle cars have proved to be exceptional investments, plenty of non muscle falcons (ie the cobra) have proven to be,and will continue to be sound investments, and very collectable.Particulary to younger enthusiest's such as myself.

I've yet to collect all the falcons I want to have in the shed, and my eyes (and wallet)can see past 1978.

Default Re: Is it on the List ( collector's Corner )

can someone clarify something for me please,,,,
a bloke told me that he owned a xwgtho phase 2 with a clevo motor in it,
i told him there was no such thing and the spirited discussion damn near turned nasty.
i am pretty bloody sure i am right but i need to hear it from someone out there so that i can validate it
any info would be greatly appreciated thankyou
