These cars are under quoted from FPV, so they dont embarress the Boss 290's power output.

The facts are that the Phoon is the new king of Aussie 4 door performance cars, nothing before them has been quicker.

See my sig, i have spent a fair amount of $$$$ and G&D has spent a fair amount of time to get my ute as quick as it is, i rekon a Phoon with a edit and a $150 air filter would hose me.

btw: What do you drive ????

I hate to point out the obvious but 1/4 mile times have nothing to do with how fast a car is.

Hmmm, I'm feeling rather inadequate with my boss motor. Seems I should have bought a turbo!

Try 0-100km/h in under 4 sec (I've heard 3.5), down the 1/4 in mid 11's (I've heard 11.4), and if you've got some large grapefruits... 300km/h top speed.

If it aint a sedan who cares, we talking real cars here not toys with a V8 shoehorned in.

if u go on that elfin site u will notice the section its in, concept. not production, so therefore the phoon is the quickest production car to come out of australia

No doubt the phoon is a great car, and better than any FPV before it. I just think dead stock means exactly how it came from the factory, and yes if you took the air filter out it would be modified, if the filter and tyres don't make it any faster why would you buy them?? to look good??

and I drive an EF, why do you ask, did you think I owned a holden??

Umm yeah it does. How fast can a car get to the 1/4 mile mark?

Why would you put in a filter? Better Fuel economy
Why would you change tyres? Cause the 5hit tyres from the factory are no good, or don't suit your conditions, or you already wore down the stock ones and had to replace them.

Why argue? The F6 is the fastest Aussie 4 door street car out of the factory. It been proven more then once too...

So how would you describe the Aussie performance car with the highest top speed? Surely it would be the "fastest Aussie performance car"?

Quickest is what they use to describe the car with the best 1/4 mile time.

Quick or Fast what does it matter, fastest top speed fastest 1/4 mile, quickest top speed, quickest 1/4 mile ?????? Different adjectives to describe the same thing.

Top speed means jack ИИИИ to most people these days, as the only place you can try it is legally is in the N.T, and i know from experience you need a good few k's to get my car up to 250kph, how many race tracks with 3k main straights, and enough braking area ???

1/4 mile times have more street cred, more bragging rights, and are more attainable than top speed runs anyway

Yes, it, along with its less hard-edged MS8 Streamliner brother, are full fledged production cars.

Fastest thing ever to come out of this country - and if I'm not mistaken - the fastest production car ever to be built in the Southern Hemisphere.

It’s not a Holden!!! …and I understand that Elfin is not comfortable with the assumption that many have made that Holden was the major contributor. Holden did assist in some aspects of the design but the car is an Elfin.

Ford is Ford, Elfin is Elfin, and Holden is slow...

Typhoon is the fastest, stock, Aussie, mass produced car.

Sedan, yes. Car, no. Elfin is a production car just as the Typhoon is. And it is MUCH faster then the Typhoon from the factory.

Mass produced - that is, high quantity outputs. Elfin makes how many per year?

Regardless of what you think, the Elfin Clubman MS8 is recognised as a production car, therefore it is the fastest Australian Production Vehicle ever produced. Period.

An F6 blows a HSV! So stick the F6 engine in a Elfin body and your 0-100 in 3.5 will become 3 flat

: The Phase 3 was quicker than the E49, ive read figures from 14.4 to 14.9 for the E49 and 13.9 to 14.4 for the phase 3, they used stop watches and back roads to test the cars in 1971 : , i really dont place allot of faith in the accuracy of 1/4 times in magazines from the 70's.
They never tested a Phase 3 with its optional 3.9 rear end, only the bathurst spec model with tall gearing.
Think about it, It had a power to weight advantage over the E49 as well as overall torque, peak power, gearing etc.
The propaganda about the E49 being quicker over the 1/4 is largely rubbish.
Do the math, it doesnt make sence.
By the way, stock BAGT ran a 13.5 last year at WSID and in motor mag the BAGT ran a 13.8 and the XR8 ran a 13.9, so the F6 BA/FGT and BAXR8 are the first FALCONS in 34 years to equal or better the Phase 3's (13.9) 1/4 times from 1971!. :

Either way a good Phase 3 with the 3.9 factory rear end would have been a fair bit quicker.

Judging by those 3 timeslips and the 60ft times. It looks like the car has a little bit more in it left. It would be interesting if he ran a 1.8 60ft.
