That won't do anything.. North Korea has nothing to do with Hyundai/Kia and Samsung. Those are South Korean corporations.

I hear it's the opposite. 20 million workers ready to manufacture all the stuff they have lived without for decades.

There is a large building at the border owned by Hyundai. Everyone (big business) wants into the North should borders fall.

This is what a multi millionaire business man told me over there. The conversation was 10 years ago but I guess he was referring to the hope the borders fell without conflict.

I agree mate, how many times have we seen over the decades wars fought and the aftermath being basically small civil wars that go for years and years, it's anyones guess how this will end up playing out, I think any responses on the part of the US will have to be very carefully measured, even though north and south are at war I suspect the little people in the street of north and south are still very much country men if you know what I mean.

Maybe I'm wrong but I could see a bit of rebellion from the south if US annilated the north, I suspect this is what kim jong actually wants.

That would be bad for South Korean workers, as the wages would go south pretty quickly when you have a massive rush of people looking for work.

Yeh NK and China are bigger allies than you think. NK is Chinas little attack dog and front for testing Nukes. They supply them with food and Uranium from Kazakhstan as NK has no real weapons grade Uranium at their disposal.

If the Yanks retaliated to a NK attack, china would step in and the war would be underway before the yanks could mobilize to save their bases. Granted they have some pretty good technology but china and NK have sheer numbers.

China wants top spot in the world economy so they can be the next America.

But the Yanks have control over the all important $ in the form of the IMF which has established itself in a fair few countries allies to china... so expect some kind of pressure and tricks with money to come if the tensions escalate.

China don't need nk as a front to test nukes, they have more than enough land mass to do whatever they like with.

I don't think china is behind nk anywhere near as much as they used to be...

The south is very mountainous, very little is area is actually lived on (hiking is almost a national passtime). The north with its lower population and larger area would be much the same.

The whole thing is just a vehicle for Kim Jung Un to consolidate his authority and be seen as a true successor to Kim Jong Il, which considering the cult of personality the latter had, something of this magnitude is definitely needed.

Most analysts agree that they are years away from launching a thermonuclear bomb via missile, and even the most deluded in the North Korean leadership would know that they don't have a chance against the U.S and its allies.

But it doesn't have the dense rainforest cover the VC used, the only real way to find them in the thick jungle was to search them out or ambush/be ambushed.

Not having that coverage makes destroying their equipment so easy for the US Air Force. Just look at Iraq, it was a turkey shoot.

The more this goes on it sounds like he just talking crap. He has given the US, Japan and South Korea and the whole universe for that matter more than enough warning to have their defences ready that any launch is just going to get shot out of the sky if it doesn't just fall on top of them.

It's all media hype (distraction) as usual , nothing will happen.

By this time next week, we'll be sitting here discussing the shocking state of the current financial system instead.

My opinion, for China to do that all hell would break lose. What would this loony dictator do if he found he had no friend in China, no food and no energy/electricity. If China stop providing any of these things the poor starving NK people would suffer even more (dont they have hundreds of thousands die each winter already?) The lunatic military leadership would have no better excuse or reason to invade the south and the starving masses would have no choice but to obey.

There are really only two ways it can go, either turn out to be nothing (imo, 99% likely). Or it turns into a decent war, which the US, Japan and SK would absolutely carpark NK. Then massive investment would need to occur to support the previously NK people. Suddenly a unified Korean economy would have to adjust and goods would become even cheaper. China would only get involved if it could be assured of kicking ***... and only that of the yanks. China's #1 goal is superiority over the states and its happening now.

China also holds trillions in American debt, so they can apply their own pressure.

Whilst I'm not drawn into the whole prepping movement, I find it quite interesting.

I agree with what most are saying, a lot of chest beating on NK part. At the same time, we can't underestimate our opponents - Pearl Harbor.

Decapitate the leadership and destroy all the C4I facilities, and the underground airfields will be useless. Being an authoritarian regime, all the power is concentrated in the leadership, with very little power and control vested in local facilities and commanders. They'll be rudderless without the Executive to tell them what to do.
