I'd look at HSV (assuming they tone down the styling) or a 300C SRT8.
If I was in the market for a SUV, then it would be hard to go past the Territory, but I guess if the Falcon goes, then the Territory would as well, so doesn't leave much in the current Ford stable that I'd be interested in.
Im exactly the same. If I am getting a Ford I want a Falcon. Not saying the others or not great cars, they are, but they dont do everything I want from a sedan.

So looking at sedans then that would leave me with the 300C, although auto only sucks.

Away from sedans a Ranger does fit all my needs, actually probably better than a sedan but it would depend on the ride; not a fan of carry a kidney belt with me when I want to run down to the shops. (hence my interest in a V8 ranger, that covers all bases for me).

if they give me a stang instead yes. No way I'll drive a front wheel drive taurus rebadged as a falcon

The only other Ford I would consider apart from Falcon/Territory would be a Ranger. The Ford Aus desingers have got it right, whereas the small/medium range (fiesta/focus/mondeo) are awkwardly styled and stupid looking both inside and out imo, therefore they don't even come into consideration.

I don't know what I would replace the XR6T ute with... I'd have to look at Holden (shudder...). Maybe if Ford were smart they'd import the Mustang which I would buy as well as a Ranger for cargo duties.

It makes me cry to think that if I was in the US I could have picked up a Boss 302 Mustang for the same price as my ute.

Yes I would.

However if they close the manufacturing facilities, then hell no.

Only if they bought in the Mustang and it was affordable. The range of aftermarket parts for them is simply staggering.

I would not ps on a FWD Falcon, and I would hope that if they do build a large FWD or AWD car that they call it something else, cause if it doesn't have an I6 or V8, and is FWD or FWD biased AWD then it ceases to be a Falcon in any way, shape or form.

If the falcon goes i will just buy a second hand one. XH, EL or FG 1 are fine looking cars. would pick one in any condition over a taurus

I wouldn't *not* buy a ford just because there is no Falcon.

Just like I wont necessarily buy a Ford because there *is* a falcon.

No for me. Nothing else in the Ford line up interests me.

If the Falcon stays on in a FWD/AWD config I wouldn't buy that either. It would be good for me as I would just buy second hand. I wouldn't go a Commodore either as I really am not a fan of their range.

Absolutely I would buy a different Ford. A Taurus with AWD would suit nicely, even the new Mondeo looks awesome. Ad in the new Kuga coming (next year) and you have choice a plenty.
Ford does not equal Falcon...

This is interesting. Crown Vic fans have had similar topics for the last few years. We love our RWD.

I definitely prefer RWD. All four of the cars I have owned have been RWD Fords. But the Taurus SHO is pretty tempting. I think a Focus ST would be fun, too.

I doubt most of the people indicating they'd buy a Mustang would actually buy one .. or would buy one and never buy another .. much like Monaro owners. Australians like the idea of a coupe, but always end up with sedans. Reminds me of the story about the first generation AMC AMX - a two seater coupe based on Javelin with a foot removed from the wheelbase. Most customers complained they would love an AMX .. if it had a backseat .. which is what the Javelin was for!!! Australians would love a Mustang .. as long as it had four doors and a big boot (aka a Falcon)

It's funny seeing all you guys with old cars saying you will jump ship.

You don't actually have the current generation Ford and complain that they wont be building a new one, when you more than likely have no intention of buying it.. That is the reason they cannot continue to build them, you don't buy it even though you like how it looks and goes.

It's one thing to like a company for a car it makes, but supporting it through tough times means buying it's products, buying a 2nd hand Ford does nothing for them.

If Falcon was not offered any longer and I was looking for a smaller car, I would not look at Ford. IMO there is better cars out there for the same price as a smaller Ford.

Ha! That was pretty much my mantra in the Crown Vic forum.

All these guys bought beat-up police cars for $2,000 and complained that Ford wouldn't listen to their demands.

So even if we might be in a position to buy, and dont, or might be waiting to say next or late year we cant comment? Come on.

Simple as this. Will the Focus or Mondeo fit 3 baby seats (these things are massive now), fit enough in the boot (prams etc etc) if we are going away for a weekend. Be able to tow a decent trailer with a load etc. From what I have seen the answer is no.

So dont have a crack at people who need a car that costs twice as much as a base Focus. Id much prefer, actually I dont really have a choice, to buy a new used Falcon than a new Focus.

And people shouldnt have to buy cars out of their own planned or natural cycle in some vain attempt to keep a company afloat...whats that a pity purchase?

From my POV I need a large sedan. I want a V8 and I dont want AWD nor a Commodore. So that leaves 2nd hand Falcon or a 300C, im not ready to get a new FPV...yet

If there is no secondhand demand for a vehicle then it's production is unsustainable. No one will throwaway the TOTAL cost of a vehicle after a few years .. they expect a decent secondhand sale price or trade-in. If they find the secondhand market doesn't want it, then next time they might be more inclined to buy something that they can sell.

If the RWD falcon goes I wouldnt know what to do. No four bangers for me, be it Ford, Mazda or whatever. The idea of FWD large car makes me shudder.
I would definitely go with a Stang if that was brought in , wouldnt have much choice really.

I've heard the next series commodore will have a turbo V6 model.. If it compares to the I6t ford will probably go for that If the falcon got canned.

What can I say? Love the turbo 6.

I'd be interested in an AWD V6T Taurus (badged as Falcon probably).

If that isn't on the cards, then a Mustang if it became available for a realistic price here.

If none of the above, i'd be open to other Fords or anything except Holden, that includes the Commodore, it's on it's last legs too.

polyal, by the time the Falcon dissapears, you won't need the baby seat and prams mate, paves the way for a Mustang should we get it

I like the Ford Rangers admittedly so I would consider getting something like that. But if want in the market for that kind of vehicle, then I would look elsewhere for my big family sedan.
