Up to 10kms over the speed limit the fine is $287 ! More than double the other States.
States run by leftist governments have historically a bad track record of financial mismanagement. Therefore they need to find ways to bleed more money from the people to pay the increased debt.

Like ours, $1B to not build a road and another $380M to not host the Commonwealth Games

If you put that money into actually doing something we'd have roads made out of gold with blokes in suits and fedoras polishing it by hand every 100 meters.

Yep, the inability to control one's right foot is someone else's fault...

I have to wonder how many people actually know if their speedo is correct or not.
I know mine runs 4 k faster than I am going so I regularly sit the cruise on 106-108 in a 100 zone 115-117 in 110 zone and go through radars at that while everyone else is on the brakes.

Australian design rules allow speedos to read 10 per cent over plus 4km/h (they can't read under),
so chances are you're travelling slower than your speedo says.

Digital speedometer apps allows you to measure your speed more accurately by using GPS.

Our Mazda CX-7 base model had a weird hard to get tyre size, so knowing that it reads 4 to 6 kph faster,
we were able to go to a 225/60/17 and have a speedometer much closer to correct.

I set mine via GPS - 100 indicated is 96 in the Fiesta ST and it goes down to 94/93 as tyres wear down.
