Total: $1109.67 for a Ford Territory
GIO is charging me $770 with off road cover, no excess windscreen replacement and lifetime protection of the no claim bonus.
This is definetly not cheaper.

$242 for an EL XR6. But I think I'll stick with paying $1000 with Shannons. Cut price for cut price cover it looks like. After 1 year, I think the other mob will jack up the premiums.

thats a lot of personal info just for a quote.
i dont see RACV or anyone else asking for my email address, phone number, house address, full name and anything else thats after where i clicked off, for just a quote.
legit or not, theres more than enough info there to come around and steal my car and steal my identity. im not giving Russians that much info about me.
hope you all thought about this and also checked the 'NO' to emails box at the very start.

Have you heard you Pay for what you Get

You would risk gambling the second highest purchase in your lifetime just to get cheaper insurance.

You have to pay the insurance premium as soon as cover is issued, no cover note period.

General Exclusions:-
We will not pay for the cost, nor provide service for:-
A car where the tow has not been arranged by us
Etc Etc

Try reading the PDS before going on Price :

I got declined for over 20mm suspension lowering, OK for under 20mm though and then very cheap. I would think they would cancel on any sort of major mod.

Agreed - I used fake name, fake address, fake email ect. Could just be a scam to get the garage address of nice cars so they can steal them (tin foil hat on of course)

$950 for a WRX with 26 year old driver - which is about $850 cheaper than my current insurer - sounds so much like a scam though.

$100 more expensive than current (RACV) for me for third party only.

Comprehensive was about $700 cheaper than RACV though.

I'm a little dubious on this mob. Their PDS looks like a Yr10 assignment and some of the numbers listed won't connect. I called their Breakdown Service and asked if they knew of eCar and they said they had not heard of them but did say they'd heard of eBike. I did an online quote and fed in some bogus info as I thought it was a bit too personal. I spoke to a woman on the claims number who said she was based in Milton QLD but would not entertain the idea of someone dropping in to speak to them as they are web-based only.

Anyway, $300 odd bucks full comp for the GT sounds too good to be true, I'll give them a miss.

in the event of a claim, they probably tell you to take it to their egarage and pay you out with emoney.

$253 with my mods. Definitely sounds too good to be true. Im paying about two & a half times that and I think thats not too unreasonable. Or maybe I'm getting screwed, dunno.

$300 inc mods. Cheaper than Shannons, but then no mention of choice of repairer, etc.

That section refers to breakdown coverage, not comp insurance.

they have an ad on page 82 of the August Wheels magazine. The disclaimer reads
"...a direct offshore foreign insurer, who is not required to be authorised under the Insurance Act 1973 to conduct business in Australia and therefore not subject to the provisions of the Act. "

pretty much says it all...

For reference the Act is here

2003 BA Fairmont:
$242 full comp, $150 excess.
with RACV im paying $327 full comp, $400 excess, Rating 1 for life.
still sounds too dogey for my liking though.
if anyone goes through this joint, post up your thoughts, especially if you make a claim.

Interesting. It won't acknowledge a 99 Ford Fairmont :

I entered the make/model details and it won't take me to the next step. As in, it chooses petrol type and that's it. Can't go any further. I changed it to Festiva and changed the year and that was fine, it went through the next steps. My make/model doesn't seem to exist lol. Might try it again later.
