easy, because billy slater is a protected species that needs to be protected and nurtured.... apparently.... Refs boss Robert (Brett's Dad) Finch needs to go, So as my own personal protest I will not be watching NRL 2010 until either some changes are made or Finch is sacked as refs boss. Give the job to Harrigan IMHO. The game has had enough of stupid video ref blunders, 2 refs on field when they haven't got enough decent refs for 1 (Shayne Hayne refereeing a final /cough) the stupid torso grounding no control tries. I could go on and on and on but the above speak for themselves. |

I think that after that many premierships they should be able to partially stand financially on their own feet. They could put the Storm in Hobart and it would be exactly the same following just a lil bit colder. (Hobart Storm hmmm) I have just had enough of the sub standard refereeing that we have put up with this season. The amount of refereeing brain farts that have occurred is phenomenal and with no consistency either the decision on the same thing is never the same two weeks in a row. Personally I think the NRL needs to ban the video ref and as fans we need to shut up and cop it on the chin when the refs and touchies get it occasionally wrong. I think the video is overused (this has improved in second half of seaon 2009) it makes for lazy refs who don't need to concentrate because bah the videos got it. In summary ban the video or referee the whole thing from it. Maybe the 2 ref thing would work if there is a senior ref and an assistant ref on field so there would be some consistency on decisions. This would hopefully improve the standard of refereeing although how do you learn when there is no one decent to learn from I mean why isn't Harrigan the refs boss. I can understand why Gus would never come back to coaching in its current state, it is unplayable. Here's hoping off season will bring some common sense. |

Sounds like you should start watching a good sport like AFL. I agree with your comment about sub standard refereeing but for a sub standard sport they suit each other.

Yeah AFL finals were quite entertaining this year. Well done Cats and commiserations for the Saints. But you know what they say never talk religion or politics I will also add football to that list. |

If anything goes wrong its the refs fault and if you win its cause of your big mouths. Face it: Melbourne are smashing NSW at the moment and will do for the for seeable future. Jarryd Hayne has had one half decent season and everyone up there thinks he is a god, just like Brett Stewart. If you remember, Hayne spent most of the last 3 seasons, faking injuries while Billy was carving sides up. Suck it up and get ready to get smashed again in 2010 P.s: Don't get me started on Russel BUYING all your rabbitos talent.....

I take offence to your comments are you are Storm supporter or are you someone who has jumped on the bandwagon and given you an excuse you gloat? I am an Eels fan, I have been for 32 years. I also attended the grand final and supported my team. I enjoyed the day with my wife and for one are happy with the way my team came from being close to winning the wooden spoon to making the grand final. For my to team make the semi finals from that position was a win on my eyes and anything after that was a bonus. From my position on the field there were many things I did not get to see, so I will reserve judgement until I watch the game on TV. I have heard from fans from other clubs the 10 meters was thin on the Storm side in the first 1/2. Still I have not seen this yet, so really I cant confirm this to be true. The signs looked bad right from the first few minutes with Hoffman running out with Inglis and scoring the try was outstanding. It really put the outside backs into a state of confusion and put the whole Eels defence in surivial mode. This lost them the game. As I predicted Inglis and Smith I felt were outstanding, Quick play the balls really helped the Storm forwards get onto the front foot. Eels made a great comeback but it was not enough. If the ref changed the game I dont know. Sometimes these things go your way and other days they go against you. Really from my view of the game, the better team won on the day. I am still proud of the efforts of my team and that is all that counts. In my opinion there is only one thing than a sore loser and the is a cocky gobby sore winner. More so if the people are fair weather fans. I prefer to savor a win and soak up it all up, in place of gloating. I am sure the Melbourne Folks also have seen this when the Swans won it's grand final. I am not a big fan of these fair weathered clowns either. I live in Sydney, have grown up in Sydney. Yet I will always follow the Tigers. At the end of the day as I have said I am proud of my teams efforts, I also love the game. I predicted the places I felt were Melbourne would be strong and where the Eels needed to be wary. I guess I offered more without getting cocky or gobby than gloating and posting up pictures. More a sign of a fair weather fan and a true league fan. My 2 cents worth and I am still happy and proud. One other thing, for the people I know, in Melbourne who are season ticket holders, and came to Sydney to watch thier team win. This also goes to those other Victorians who got behind thier team. This victory is for you.
