In comparison Ford production workers make around $23 an hour.

Can't believe its $14-15 in the US.

I remember hearing that the minimum wage in the US is now lower than it was in the 70's, is that true.

Apparently Australia is one of the highest taxed Nations in the world.

Government loves getting money out of us any way they can. Even with all the money we give them, they still can't do anything right. We are basically their bosses since we pay them(tax) we should fire them.

Have you driven on a road lately?
Have you lodged your tax and received a refund?
Ever made a Medicare Claim?
Ever needed emergency treatment in a hospital?

where i work, we have workers on as low as 16 an hour.. casual/full time positions... i think, maybe even lower.. for a company that makes billions annually, and still cry for not making much money... what a rort.. they also bleed when it comes time to buying second hand equipment(yes second hand!! not new)

the workers who actually physically work get shafted

Have you driven on the Bruce Hwy in Queensland - yes, National Highway 1; it is a two lane death trap from around Nambour to Cairns that floods at the drop of a hat and is like a four wheel drive adventure park with wheel destroying potholes for the other 10-11 months of the year

But then I s'pose 3 out of 4 ain't bad....

Yeah I love the way I am forced to pay for a health fund. If i go to the doctor, I claim it back through medicare, not my health fund. And regardless of the several thousands of dollars per year I pay, if I make a claim, for something, I get only a portion back. I am paying for shareholders dividends.

And health funds make out they are doing you a favour and get all excited to talk about new products. "Yes Sir, if you pay $5k a year and claim for a pair of glasses, we will only pay the first couple of hundred. You pay the rest. No, it's sperate to the money we are already extorting out of you. So on behalf of the government, shareholders and my employer, we wish to say thankyou and have enjoyed screwing you over since you've been forced to be in a private health fund. Thankyou for chosing our health fund. We enjoy getting your money for nothing"

I personally couldn't see the benefit of private health cover. So I pay the extra 1%. the cover you get for that much is hopeless and in the unlikely event I require health care that incurs costs I will wear it.

As for this..

We are the bosses. we collectively hired them. And at the end of the contract we agreed to hire them for we will have an interview process for the next term.. So if your not happy vote for someone else and hope everyone else does the same.

I'm a first year apprentice auto electrician and I'm on $10.61 an hour, which is about $3 over the award wage for a junior apprentice who has finished year 12.

Want to talk to my son ??? CUT the lawns !!! I have issues getting the cars shifted so I can cut them.... Ahaha...

Last year I went to visit my brother who lives in Chicago..
After going to Sema show..
I often suffer from asthma when traveling long distance on airlines..
Sheesh to buy some spray etc was going to cost me well over $500+...
Thank God rugby teams [Chicago blaze] have doctors etc..
I got away with $200 which would have cost $20 or so here..
If you think our system is bad ?? If you can't afford medi insurance in U.S your in big trouble...

Luxury. We used to have to get out of the lake at six o'clock in the morning, clean the lake, eat a handful of gravel, work twenty hour day at the mill for tuppence a month, come home, and Dad would thrash us to sleep with a broken bottle, if we were lucky!

Seriously though... Stick out the trade!.. I was on $25.75 A WEEK (cleared $25.00) as a 1st yr apprentice.
Now have a business employing 30 including 3 apprentices, Who BTW, whine about lowly apprentice wages!.. So nothings really changed over the years?

Yeah I plan to stick it out, 4 years aint that long really, it's not too bad, work a lot of overtime and don't have any time to spend it so savings build up quick.
