So it was standing start and timed through a 1000m trap? On a runway?

Did you have fun Chris?

I flicked through the entrants list and see there was some interesting machinery, and the usual Commodore variants.

I also read on the Skyline board that two Skylines bettered 270?

Smoken!

Sadly not much power needed. The surface was covered in dirt/dust it was slippery as.

Also, no slicks or tyre warming was allowed, so traction was certainly in short supply for most entrants.

Yeah Tex, standing 0-1000m, trap speed was measured over what looked like ~10m at the end. But those results haven't been published yet. The speeds I'm quoting are from my GPS/OBD2 logging.

Heard through the day the GT-R's were doing high 260's, the VLT IIRC did 299 on it's best pass.

Video is uploading to 'tube now.

A great day out and thanks to the organisers, Adam and Terry and the team. Also a special thanks to Gen-Tech for last minute surgery on the drive-train allowing me to get to the starting line, and to data_mine and Chris and Janice for their moral support.

Obviously a very tricky technique to get our fat cars rolling on that surface, I can see that from the incar vids of yours Datamine.

Bulk power is really only useful in the back half of the track by the looks, 4th, 5th gear.

Josh, that sounds like a great plan mate, appreciate your offer and we'll speak more about it.

I thought you'd be all over this event, surprised you're not going to run the beast.

I tried a different launch techniques each time - only got 4 runs, so didn't perfect it.

Me thinks bringing semi's instead of the street tyres, next time. Most of my time is lost in the first 250m, going from the logs, my 0-100 and 0-400m times are WAY off what the car can do.

No, no burnouts (or slicks) were allowed.

I'm surprised a few of us didn't get picked up on that, I guess, a pre-start burnout, is different to hazing the tyres on the actual run.

Yeah semi comps might be good or a can of tyre grip. Also try pumping the tyres up to 60 psi for like 2 hours don't drive on them then let them down to like 24 psi this should help them bag out.

And Chris - pipped by a Hilux ute hahahahahahahah farkn ell, that would be a wild ride sterring a Hilux beyond 220..................

I'm looking forward to this next year.

All those HSV's, look out, Scud is coming to town.

The VL Walky, was a GroupA race car. Did well, til some forgotten bonnet pins finished it's last run (and windscreen) early.

And the Hilux, had some turbo swap in it (2J ?).

I've been declined entry to my local high speed event in Tassie, so this for me is 95% locked in. Now the challenge for me will be to get to Island Speed (PI circuit event) that we're organising and then Temora one - as they're likely to be only two months apart.

It's looking like I will be doing 3 return trips on the Spirit of Tasmania next year!

Bluepower in January.

Island Speed middle of the year.

Temora in September.

Damn, sometimes wish we were connected to Australia.
