We have bought 2 in fact.
Mine. An ex FPV GTE - An awesome car. Very fast and capable whilst still being smooth and easy to drive. So easy that #2 daughter uses it as her learners car. Money saved on buying the used FPV instead of new, went to buy #1 daughter an 09 Fiesta Zetec, wonderful little car (needs more go, but the GTE is my reference point) she loves it. We have only bought 1 non ford car in 15 years. Unless you count a 38 morris. LOL

sales figures should be available via VFACTS.
But then the last twelve months only is a distortion of popularity, given the outlay for new car these days. I bought a new Mondeo MB XR5T about 20 months ago. I have however bought another vehicle since then, just a not a Ford .... For the future, I'm keeping a watching brief on the next Mondeo for about 18mths down the track..... |

A new Fiesta Zetec in October. Technically the car is more than a year old, but I only bought it 4months ago new so that's how I'm measuring it.

So far the results show USED Falcon's surging ahead of the pack. Results also show's interesting results for the Mondeo. Being a vehicle with similar dimensions to the Falcon, I would cautiously suggest that it is making a sizable hit on Falcon sales. How could Ford work on picking up NEW car sales from those members looking at USED?

Bought a used 2009 XR5 Turbo Mondeo as the new family hack last July. Traded our 2001 Escape XLT. Pity I hardly drive it though. Great car.
Accidently clicked new Mondeo in the poll...sorry.

I had a 2011 MC Titanium Mondeo wagon on order. Even spoke to a bloke who built it in Belgium - nice bloke. Once we found out we were having twins, the Mondeo wasn't big enough.
So I bought a Titanium TDCi RWD 7 seat Territory. With a, now, three year old daughter, the Mondeo wasn't wide enough across the back seat. Only reason I didn't get it. Loved my MA, and would have been very happy with the MC. Started a new job in December and needed a car. Spoke to Etheridge Ford, and now I have an ex-rental XR6. It is a great car, I do mostly highway and am seeing about 8.5 l/100kms. It's doing well.

over the years by upgrading every couple of years and spending a little bit more each time, i have been able to afford a newer and newer car each time. people go on about resale, but to be honest, if you are in the habit of upgrading every couple of years like i am, depreciation from new isn't much different to buying 18months old and selling at 4 years. its a similar hit, so once you stretch yourself to buy new, if you can keep upgrading, it only costs you a few thousand each year. in short, once you are in the new car market, its a little bit easier to stay there. thats my take on it. hopefully in the next year or 2 i can do my bit. |

Ex FPV F6E demo - 6 mths ago.
Love the power, Brembos and ZF Top-of-the-range interior and equipment is pathetic for a $80+k rrp vehicle. Will be replaced by a C300 SRT late next year. You know things are bad at home when even the Yanks can do a better interior !!!!!

Bought an ex Mackay Airport leased '10 plate FG XR6 in Oct 2011 in Nitro blue
28,000km $25,999 no depreciation for me, i guess Ford copped that. Was going to buy a '11 LE but the difference was 11k for basically the same car so i picked the lowest kms out of the 3 available. Drives like a dream, no problems/complaints..tho the exhaust and stereo could be louder :P In 2 minds to upgrade it in a year, tho i dont like to look of the new ones...looks like a big Mondeo :P Decided against XR6T this thing flies without needing a turbo to help destroy my licence |

Yep, the poll is showing what's happening out there; the Mondeo is competing strongly with Falcon sales.
The two vehicles are too closely aligned. Do Ford Australia really need the Mondeo when they have the Falcon? Maybe all that's needed is a new marketing strategy. One model for your Fleet and Government sales, and a Falcon 'Titanium' for the prestige market. Could Ford produce a Falcon hatch? Look at the Mondeo, at first glance you wouldn't know that it was a hatch. Two Falcons; a sedan and a hatch?
