easiest way would be to do this in the status window:

/server pacific.nsw.au.austnet.org

/join #aff
/join #ff.com.au

I have mIRC v 6.16 ........ I cant get onto the pacific.nsw.au.austnet.org bit of it :(

go to view > options > server > add
description: whatever
server: pacific.nsw.au.austnet.org
leave everything else as it is
click add
click connect
join the channel(s)

pacific.sg.austnet.org <--- This one i use all the time on Bigpond Cable

Ok so those who wanted the irc chat and a guide with pictures

*looks at Minge *

Hope this works

If you need to download mIRC you can get it from my link

http://members.optusnet.com.au/cschoppe/mirc616.exe

Open Mirc and if you dont see the Mirc option screen goto Tools/Options or however else you get there

Once you have done that hit the ADD button to add the new server details

Then fill out the details as per above

Description : Fordforums AU or something so you know its the AU one
Server : pacific.nsw.au.austnet.org seems to work well or
ok if you are having issues with that server try one of these

iinet.wa.au.austnet.org

netspace.vic.au.austnet.org

comcen.nsw.au.austnet.org

thunder.il.us.austnet.org

paagrio.at.eu.austnet.org

starhub.sg.austnet.org
Port(s) : leave as 6667
Group : again something so you know its the AU chat

Once you have done that press the Add button again and you should see

Once that has done, hit the Connect to server button and you should then connect to the server

The very first time you connect, its a good idea to register your nickname like below

EG : /MSG NickOP REGISTER pWd! ensign@fl.net.au

but replace the password and email address with your own

Once you have done that this will make the nickname yours

When you connect each time, you can then type

/msg nickop@austnet.org identify <your password>

or if you know about alias'

/alias /ident /msg nickop@austnet.org identify $1-

copy and paste that into mirc and then all you need to type to identify is

/ident <your password >

*** If you dont want to do the above registration step you dont have to, just goto the step below****

Once you have done that join the channel as per below

Once you have done that you should see the below screen

And if all is good, you will see the rest of the ppls there

RATT: The easiest way to get onto mIRC is to type in the Status window:

/server pacific.nsw.au.austnet.org

and press enter... it should come up with a few pages of writing, then you can type /join #aff

If pacific.nsw.au.austnet.org doesn't work, there have been a few other servers mentioned previously in the thread. If you have a firewall running on your PC (even the xp one) it can slow it down initially and it will take a few minutes to connect. :-)
