A few I grew up hearing:
" He wouldn't work in an iron lung" " I am busier than one armed brick layer in Beirut" " He wouldn't know if he was Arthur or Martha" " Quicker than a rat up a drain pipe" " Couple of snags short of a BBQ" |

As a word of wisdom - it used to frustrate the hell out of me as a kid when someone said it because I "wanted" them to say it. Quote:

I love how the Monty Python boys used "faster than a rat up an aquaduct" in the life of brian. Cheers Vincenzo

Billy Connerly says this a lot, something that starts with ? and then off !
I seen him say that there is no english substitute that quite has the same emphasis, it has that sertain ring to it and that, go away. does not cut it at all. Be gone. Vamoose. Who started that word was it the aussies ? Get ------ ? Get nicked, is that right ? As nowadays words can mean diffrent things, even totaly diffrent like the word sick, wicked, gay, are totaly out of contence to what they once were. Talking to young people especialy the political correct brainwashed ones are near imposable to talk to as they have no idea and get totaly of track and start ranting and raving like an imbecile. A mate got offended over his dad calling him Boy on his death bed and mate had no idea what his dad ment at all, he was realy upset because he thought his old man looked down on him but he had just forgoten the meaning of what his dad was convaying, his love for his boy! because my mate in his job he has to be totaly PC, it's like a nazi camp, so if you go out side of what is demanded of you, you will suffer the consequences very harshly indeed even to the point you will never work again in that industry. it's a total moronic nazi mob mentality of madness. Gidday we aussies were a very forgiving casual calm level headed people who could roll with the punches once. now we will try to sue for anything as we are so precious. So Pearls of Wisdom ? or stating the obvious be ok in the new PC world ? |
