Well this all looks very intesting Shane.
Its a JMM vs G & D head to head comparsion isn't it! As we all know JMM's dyno is awfully optimistic but on straight dyno numbers I don't reckon it's any better. Yeah of course i agree about the auto and stallie all losing a few rwkw but i too would have liked to seen you come out with nearer 145rwkw on the dyno. Hasn't Krissy got 138rwkw too. I think her car is going to do the high 14's easy and you may still struggle in the low 15's till you "open her up". Of course thats the weight of your IRS holding you back more than the traction benefits mostly. next dragstrip run will really prove this out for sure. |

Even 135rwkw on the dyno is still good for a 14.8(in the right conditions), highstall, shift kit, plus the mountain of torque the all new modded VCT has it will do it easily. But the dyno dosent show how the car is on the street/track. JMM dyno awfully optimistic.. lol you got that right, but even so people are paying thousands upon thousands for DEV kits, and just breaking into the 14's.. Caspers car, un opened, with his minor mods will better alot of these dev cars getting around and many others from other workshops. 135rwkw may not sound like a lot but Im looking forward to hearing about how this black beast goes at the strip. Im sure its going to suprise a few and raise a few eye brows. :eclipsee_ |

Either I have a significantly better setup, have more power than I claim, they have less then they claim or a mixture of it all these situations. Either way the peak rwkw claims mean very little to me because its a number, not an ET. Secondly, while these new dyno numbers from my car may not seem all that high and 145rwkw would have been nice, lets put it in perspective here. Lets take 2 other similar cars in some ways. Yours and useless's will do. Useless is actually a good example as his is similar in a lot of ways. We both run hi stalls, we both have edits, we both have exhaust and intake. He also has a shorter diff ratio and is running a dev4 cam.. I am running unopened. I am also make similar if not greater power than him. In your case we have similar exhaust, both have intake, you have a unichip tune but I have a slightly shorter diff. You have no hi stall and a Dev3 HL cam.. you are about 6rwkw ahead of me. So effectively you are asking that G&D create a situation where, to be satisfactory, they have to tune an unopened automatic, histalled VCT I6 to a point where it is producing more power then a Dev4 JMM cam? I think thats a little unrealistic. Trust me, when we open thie engine up you will see some bigger numbers but, more importantly, it wont be a dyno queen, it will still be under 180rwkw but running some major times. Remember, Hamo's AU auto "only" had 147rwkw when it hammered most other I6's with a 14.30 ET. Finally, without driving it you can appreciate the difference. The torque it is producing now is V8 matching and totally fluid. To say "its no better" is to be too absorbed in dyno queen numbers and totally ignoring the reality. The car was doing 135rwkw without the histall. Now its doing it with the histall and punching out a massively broader torque curve. There is nothing that is the same anymore at all. You see a dyno sheet and say its no different, I drive it and say its completely different. Quote:

But anyway, you're obviously not going to go back to stock converter but I'm just wondering - does that mean you will stick with your current one or are their plans to change to a different one?

Well done Casper. Now she's fast, time to work on that bling bling. I am happy to provide my consultancy fees to you at Forum members discount rates. Lets do lunch.
I've got the 4480 pacies so i would be keen to see how she sounds if G&D have done some mods to it.

Im going for another Dyno run in the coming weeks as i strongly believe that i got nothing from installing the chiptorque chip but also cant wait to fit the 3.9's,edit,G&D Airbox and a couple of other treats then i might be content for once with the mods.
I have bought this up a couple of times but when youre car is running 135-140rwkw then you install a product that is suppossed to give another 5-8 but makes you loose 7kw i dont blame some on here for some peoples figures and times but hey that part of the fun i guess.

Sounds good mate, glad to see you've finally got stage 1 in your hands and on the road. Looks like a nice wide power band too.
How different does it sound with the new intake and exhaust? I recently cut the entire front off my airbox and the sound is berserk. I cant believe how much just the sound has improved my driving pleasure... Any chance you'll sneak out to the track before the 20th? I dunno if I can wait a month to hear how it runs. The air is pretty decent this time of year, you should run a pretty decent number ;) Bling is boring

Good stuff there Casper. It's a really nice car you have there, and doesnt need anymore modding.
I look forward to seeing the next stage mate. |

I am just waiting on some parts for my new auto to arrive. At this stage it is all systems go for the 20th. I have had a new stall convertor made and with the new box I will be chasing that 11.99 that I have been after for along time now. :
As for not being in the same league, thats is true, but we both also know that I have thrown alot of money at my car, not doubt it would be double what you have spent, if not more. And I can't even drive mine down the road.(legally) :yeees: I just hope you go out and achieve what you have been searching for,as you also have been hunting that 14.99 for awhile now too. Oh, and by the way, be kind to your back tyres, they didn't like you before, so I am sure they are going to hate you now!!!!! :Up_to_som LUKE

As for cash, I'd certainly say you have thrown a lot more into yours than mine as it has some rather impressive bits in it. Actually, I think you have spent more on transmissions alone than Ive spent on my car. The price we pay I guess. I'm not all that quick but I get to go harrass Commies at the lights when the urge says I should. Leagally too. Oh, and my back tyres hate my guts now. Did you know how loud and smokey it can get in the Burnley tunnel when you're trapped in an Easter thursday traffic jam? : Damn tyre smoke, who did that? :evilsasmo

And If all else fails, I will have that pretty blue bottle sitting there waiting. I am not going to leave Heathcote on the 20th without a 11.99 or under pass.
We'll have to have a coffee or a bourbon at Heathcote, its been awhile since I have seen you. LUKE

Good to se you guys at G&D giving it 100%. Casper has run a best of 15 second quarter mile. The true test of these mods at the end of the day will be the running of the 1/4 mile. Cant wait for the results with these good power increases.
Btw when will Casper be running?

Glenn used my car for a lot of R&D and I got looked after for it however it would be around the $3500 mark to get exactly the same as mine I guess, give or take. Not sure if they will ever do an identical exhaust to mine again as its made in specific sections for testing purposes but they now know what really works on the I6 and could replicate it again. As I said, I lost count of exhaust systems because G&D wanted to make one that truely worked for the I6 setup, not just one that someone esle made for them and said woked.

Casper, just curious how much G&D charged you for those mod updates? Just curious as i am looking at updating my Mods as well. I currently have herrod extractors with a 2.5" hi flow exhaust system, unichip, k&n filter with a 3" mandrel bend air intake. Does anyone have anu suggestions with changing or keeping any of the stuff? Is a Unichip outdated?
