Come Saturday morning two sets of gates were cut open and the car was gone.

Having quite a few mates in the industry i know of heaps of cars being stolen (even a pair of cop cars from a certain holden dealership _ )

not sure about the insurance issue as the keys were left in the vehicle by a staff member
If they were smart they'd go take a key and remote from spare part's cut it to match the spare (you guy's would have the spare somewhere) and tell the insurance company it just walked and you dunno how. If you have both set's of key's your right.

Nah was about three weeks ago

I liked the look of it and when I saw the build number was even keener, but couldn't stretch the budget that far...

Hey, did you say another one was stolen? Ie a cop car?

Sounds like the car thieves of SA are on a spree at the moment.

Yes, I think you have seen my car - it had black custom plates. Hehe. Now it has red and white ones.

Cheers

Jac

jezz i cant belive one was stolen - and from a dealership- surely there would be cameras, alarms and whatever else. also it would be extremely difficult to steal one without the keys.

At the end of the day a 3" square black and white photo thats probally very very grainy isn't going to be much help tyrying to find the guy who swiped the key's, if they find the guy who was in the lot at the time there still stuffed unless they actually have him on camere taking the key's out of the car.

I've always thought about fitting a smoke machine into a car so that if the alarm goes off the interior and engine bay gets filled with smoke so they cant see what they are doing.

Apparently they're also used in pubs.

Is this so they dont steal the pubs?!?! it:

what about this - :

a lot of alarms have outputs on them these days so they could be used to trigger something....like explosives strapped to the drivers seat.

You dont necessarily want to kill them, just burn their a$$ a bit...it will make their butt nice and tender - ready for the pounding they will no doubt get in jail...damn theiving scum.

They are becoming quite common in sydney to stop smash and grab's, we have a system setup in our grog room where we store Under Bond Jim Beam. It'll fill the 45osqm room in under 2o seccond's, got me stummped why they bothered putting a camera in there.

Never seen one in a pub tho, don't really see the point either as they usually get robbed while open.

If they have i would suspect that they would only target highly modded car's or FPV's.

Forget the modded bit and that should make the XR8's safe as they are about the slowest thing out of ford.....

Not good in any case.
If some one wants it they will always get it.

I knew a Bloke with a HSV. Alarmed like you wouldnt belive.
Went shopping for 20 mins, came back and car was gone.
People watched as a tilt tray dragged it on the back with alarms going ape $H!T and thought nothing of it.One guy in a vest and one guy people thought was the owner.

lucky ***** who knocked off the gt. must have a ba stockie as a transplant car.

at the end of the day anycar can be stolen. they may take 5 seconds or 5 minutes. they are as easy as using another key, flogging the keys off the car yard lot board or as complex as drilling out ignition barrels so you can use a screw driver to start them. but nothing beats the rumours about how to steal cars that are floating around, like jumping on the roof of a vt to cause a big vacuum pump to unlock the doors and all you need afterwards is another barrel and key to swap with the original (dont see how that works unless the key is coded) or the half a tennis ball trick on the ef's etc etc
