Mate, you have to look at it on balance. All the opinions on here are totally valid and I agree with pretty much everyone about what they have said except those who go "Gee this on (x) cr@ps all over (y). Please.

Do you have an HD ready TV? Cause if not, then the graphics benfits of the PS3 will be totally lost on you. Waste of money. Also, the 360 has been out longer, meaning that there are more available tittles.

as for the Blu-Ray/HD-DVD argument, how many movies are you going to buy on Blu-Ray/HD-DVD that you don't already have on DVD? Cause seriously unless you have high end home hi-fi then you're wasting money having the capability. If you don't wanna spend large amounts of money on games/gaming, then definitely go the 360. Converesely if you're a videophile get the PS3. The games will get released. Sony do have plenty of exclusive games, but conversely so does 360.

Is this your main hobby? Cause then you wanna plug heaps of money into it.

If product life cycle is your only concern, then there is no contest. How long did the PS2 last? Compared with the first Xbox? Obviously that's no fix for what the future might hold, but it would be a lot of money for Sony to invest without getting much back if it was a short life cycle.

i only like racing games... im not a fan of the action games hence why i have a Alienware games PC.....

id rather buy a 360 atm cause its cheaper and offers the same amount of thrill as the ps3 ATM!!!!...

No doubt in about a year or so the ps3 will jump ahead when its technology is fully utilized....

mind you a PSP is a diff matter hehehe

Wii's are great I think. As far as the 'novelty' goes.. To me it's not a novelty really. I've played Call Of Duty 3 quite a bit on my mates Wii (don't own one) and it's still good every time. It's like an arcade shooter really.. Point/aim at the screen and fire, and it shoots where you were aiming at. Once you get the hang of it it's a cracker I reckon.

Then there *are* the novelty games, which are always good for the occasional laugh and good times.

I suppose there's not as many 'normal' titles on Wii? I'm not sure. But there's still some great games that are on the other consoles and are rad to play. You can also use the controller like a steering wheel for games like NFS etc.

Afaik the PS3 doesn't come with the cables to play in hi def so even if you have the tv it won't make any difference till you buy the cable.

Sony have actually lost alot of exclusives they have had since the begining.
Alot of them are being relaesed on both consoles with some apparently being released on the 360 first.

Metal gear solid 4 & Final Fantasy XIII are rumored to be going to the 360 as well which will be a big loss to sony.

I have a 360 but will probably end up with a ps3 & wii so I am not particulary biased ( have all 3 last gen consoles) just a keen gamer.

For all the people saying the ps3 will probably drop in price I can't see it happening for a while as sony are lopsing money on every console they sell at the moment.

My brother and i had a PS2 he just got a 360 and he plays halo live all night from when he gets home from work............ I now have the ps2 in my room and will be upgarding to a PS3 soon.
The xbox looks good when playing games but cause ive come from ps1 to ps2 i just really dont like the controlers on the 360 the shape and way they are set up.
I have played the new F1 game for about 20 min in store and the motor storm game on like 50in plasma and they were really good. Next time a see a interest free period i think i will go get one. I know they will get cheeper if i wait a while but the PS2 i have is old and on its last legs so why not...........

yeah, I don't think it is a novelty either. I'll bet the PS4 and next XBox will have a similar control style as the Wii, even though Sony and Microsoft bag it all the time.

Some gaming sites even say Sony is working on a 'copy' of the Wii remote to go with the next Eye Toy game.

Got that, and a X360, and many consoles, PS3 is just to expensive now, can't justify $1k just for the console, looking at $1500 by the time you add stuff into it.

My 360 was only $900 still expensive, but cheaper.

Dont see the 360 coming down in price for a while, nor the ps3, one it gets down to about $400 for the console, then id bother buying it.

I'm looking into it, but you guys gotta remember, that the PS3, for $1k, comes with the lot. Card readers, usb, wireless in built, larger hard drive, blu-ray, not to mention it's quieter than the xbox 360, and bluetooth. So by the time you buy an xbox, and add on the accessories of Wireless adapater, intercooler or hdvd, xbox live whatever you want. The prices, start rising up over $800.

For a more multimedia perspective, the ps3 is the way, as in you want to primarily run your entertainment/tv system off. But for a gaming console, xbox360 is the way to go.

Although the new xbox360 elite, with larger hard drive, and tv output capabilites such as 1080p, and hdmi might be the way to go!!

Nevertheless, I might just get a mac. lol

XBOX 360 because of XBOX Live once you get that together with gears of war you will never play another game again, its worth buyin just 4 that game, plus Halo3 this year and GTA4

I had not played games 4 over 1 year but then i got 360+Live+headset+GOW and i have been flat out 4 3months spending 2 much time infront of TV playin, in a way its a bad idea but a lot of fun and easy 2 get hooked

I'm not a big fan of sony's products, but for me, its still the PS3... I will get a new TV at the same time too to make full use of the HD capability.

I don't play alot of games, so I will only own 2 games for the system.

I only bought my PS2 to play Gran Turismo 4 and GTA San Andreas. I have ended up with 94% completion of GT4. Couple of races I just can't win.

I hope my Driving Force steering wheel will be compatible with the PS3. Anyone have the low-down on that?

I have both, got the PS3 a couple of weeks ago. After having it for a couple of weeks iv decided that it was hyped up and way to expensive. 360's live just shits all over sonys version.

I bought the 360 at launch last year, its the best bloody console I have ever bought. im running it in 720p on my lcd tv and the picture is great. Marketplace is really cool, you download demo's, trailers, arcade games(Ultimate mortal kombat 3!!!) and heaps of other stuff.

If you go with the 360, get xbox live and halo 2. Stacks of fun online. Iv been playing a halo 2 online for over 2 years now.

I hear some people saying "GT, nuff said". Gran turismo even though a different type of game is nothing compared to halo 3(out this november!!). Plus the 360 has forza 2 in less than a month anyway.

The 360 elite is coming out soon. It has a HDMI output and a 120gb HDD. Plus its black. il be selling my 360 when its avalible and getting the elite to replace it

I have had nothing but problems and trouble with my Xbox 360. Overheating, not just the console but the power supply too. Google "3RLOD" (Red Lights of Death) and you will see how many problems the 360 really has. They rushed to release it before the PS3 and they ended up making a lemon. I wish I never bought it now. Their service line isn't great either. Keeping me on hold for 20 mins at a time and telling me the problem has been fixed when it hasn't.
