I do remember now, I did enjoy watching the womens pole vault at the Sydney olympics with Tatiana doing well.

Please allow me to offer my apologies to the pro-olympic, stereotyping accusing gits who have obviously never heard of a joke. I shudder to think how you will react when you find out that there is more to life than watching someone else living theirs and thinking "that makes me so damn proud". :togo:

You take up a Sport for Yourself not for the Public. I'd say there is a grater % of arm chair You know what's, who sit down and watch the Olympics, football and other sporting events and yell at the TV every time one of these Sportsman or women don't preform.

I may not like to sit down and watch the Olympics but you'll never hear me criticizing one of em if they have a bad day at the office.

does anyone know if any of the channels will be showing the boxing events? This is about the only thing that would interest me....I really dont care if someone can swim faster than someone else. More important things in life...at least boxing is entertaining

I dont watch the tv much anymore because its all crap on it.

What annoys me more is the obsession with football in the media.

Last night's evening news was about Collingwood footballers, tonight its about wayne carey. Why are these meatheads made out to be superstars? If I sit down a six to watch the news i'd like to see news for 15 mins and then they can have 15 mins of sport.

Most of the time football is on the front cover of the paper here too.

I'm compelled to agree, being a motor sport fan i don't give hoot about ball sports, the media saturation drives me crazy.

The Collingwood thing had nothing to do with football so they couldnt put it in the sports segment. And news is news whether its sport, political, international whatever.

Amen.

I'm going to the Geelong V Melbourne match tonight just to stay away from the Olympic hoo-ha for as long as possible.

As I said, the most overrated sporting event in the world.

Bugger the Olympics, I know the Chinese locked their people out of the internet but why is Australia locking us out of something better to watch?
I wont watch it on principle

For those that love the Olympics enjoy the "Opening Ceromany" tonight as I will. Gives me my first real look of the Birds Nest Stadium. (from the outside it looks like its name sake).

I like the Olympics. I think it is a good thing that *insert warm fuzzy feeling here* people from all over the world can forget their differences and just compete and let their performance speak for themselves.

HOWEVER, what I am sick of is all the allegations of drug cheats and such. I say, its a fact of life now. Just accept it. The Olympics has 2 contests. The first is the athletes. The second is the science behind the athletes.

I hate the channel 7 coverage though. They never show the lesser known sports. We only ever see the swimming, athletics, rowing, basketball and thats pretty much it. I'd like to see some squash, badminton, martial arts, volleyball etc. Show some sports that we don't get to see every day!
