A new concept Mad Max Falcon would of made all prime-time news outlets, make newspaper general news or motoring sections, been discussed at length in local and US performance vehicle and vehicle competitor forums, probably make the Top Gear news segment, and the car itself could of travelled the motor show circuit and Ford open days for months....

Instead we got these derivative, generic, ugly, no-chance-of-production concept cars which will be forgotten by tommorrow by most of the motoring world.

Yep, because media coverage never sells cars. You should tell Toyota, Holden, Nissan, Mazda, Honda, Ford etc to cancel their advertisements, promotions, advertisements, racing sponsorship and product placements. You could save them millions a year!!

The 2 from ford look like batman cars, not mad max.

So in 78, they used an XB, therefore in 2011 they should be using a BF, maybe an FG, but forget that, what about an AU 2 door 300+ with sprintex supercharger??? Matt/satin black, black19s, and LPLI with the tanks taking up the boot!

I don't mind it, its not a complete retro looking thing (retro style is dead and overdone), it still has little hints of the interceptor but in a thoroughly modern, nay, futuristic shape.

The point brazen is trying to make is that the original gave th xb a liitle more cred, media time, exposure...it simply made people talk.

This looks like any manufacturer did it, and you have no idea why or what it is...if those pics where but up on their own then I doubt anyone would pick it.

It's about improving the aura for the brand...this does nothing but rub some of fords ego's internally....well done fellas, high five!

Black FG Coupe, side pipes, protruding blower, dark windows and large rims with black centres and you're talking. What I'd be doing is promoting the current cars, get a little product placement.
Look what Aston Martin did, they put a beefed up DB9 called the DBS in a James Bond film as a concept and now it is in full scale production.
Ford design team we love your work but shouldn't you crawl before standing up and sprinting?

wow, when reading i immediatly thought of the Effigy that was a future FJ Holden and its awsome,so thinking along those lines ,this will be good and then i see two lambo like bits of modern crap.
maybe these Ford workers should have been shown the Effigy after the mad max movie so they might HAVE A CLUE

not sure why everyone is getting upset about it. It wasn't Ford who chose the final two designs it was TopGear magazine.

Really though I don't see it needing to be too close to a Falcon, wasn't the interceptor destroyed in the second film?

Quote:
Led by chief designer passenger cars Asia, Pacific and Africa, Todd Willing, the team created several way-out concepts that pay homage to styling cues from the original XB Coupe Interceptor.

Out of the concepts two have been chosen by the magazine to feature in the April issue of TopGear Australia magazine, on sale now, because they take body design, power sources and weaponry to a futuristic level.

TopGear Australia magazine readers will be invited to vote on which design Ford should take to the next level.

Hmm I wonder what the rest of the designs were.

Personally I reckon they should cross that silver coupe I posted earlier with the 2nd Mad Max concept drawing and then you'd be close...

on the 2nd one, whats with all the random crap under the head lights down the side?

Hello, the FG 5L is blown now? Just smack a bigger blower on it that hangs out the bonnet, body kit similar to the XB and done. Doesnt even need to be 2 door, I dont think it had any significance to the movie, they just used a 2 door falcon. But they dont make them anymore so who cares.

Both pictures took some skill to draw.

Maybe there are hints of future Falcon sheet metal (or maybe not).

The second pic looks like it has some futuristic neon display for the future ricers !!

The pertinent question is: Out of those two concepts with either one of them be built for the movie? or will it just be CGI? I hope it get's built like the Warthog, be nice to have a show stopper at Ford's motorshow stands for once :P It could be our Efijy (only not a rip-off of CadZZilla).

Ford Australia's Chris Svenson will be taking the voted most popular to the states to get support for actually building one.

Bit it will probably just be a Falcon GT under the skin.

The first one is infinitely better... as it's infinitely more serious than the second one with all those triangular pieces of useless metal sticking out the side. Plus it's a single seater...

Yeah it definitely needs to be matte black. Those glowing red eyes are really set off by black bodywork.

One thing I don't like about that silver FG coupe concept is the 1/4 window should be shaped like the old hardtops. That simple curved one in the design simply doesn't look 'tough' and smacks of a lack of imagination.

if those cars are for mad max, do the yanks think max is a pussy or what. i agree that there more like "batman" cars. If this is maxs ride, i can just see it now, max no longer has a grubby blue heeler sittin beside him. his new dog is a tidy poddle, max will open the door for him, and says, don,t snatch that seat little tiger.
