If I can hold off until 2013 Mondeo .... then Mondeo for sure.
Other than that ... hard decision for me.

I've picked the mondeo cos I have one!!! It is certainly a big "medium sized" car. Interested in the tune options but worried about the misses driving as she's heavy on take off. It goes well enough with a booting as it is..
It would be interesting to feel how the falcon compared. |

I chose the Mondeo. Extra versatility of the hatch and euro gadgetry. Not interested in FWD / RWD argument...

If they Mondeo came in a manual then I would take that.
If they were both auto then I would take the Falcon. Agreed with above, as it is a daily WGAF about RWD/FWD...im not drifting to the shops or dropping the kids off; son would love it though.

As I was reading through the thread I initially thought to myself - Falcon, easy - its RWD, and as someone said, the Mondeo is just to normal, too A - B.
But then again, RWD vs FWD isn't so relevant in this class of car, and the 3 box body shape of the Falcon is the most impractical of them all (and one of the biggest factors in its slow sales IMO) So the practicality of a large hatch does it for me - Mondeo it is. |

G6E would get my tick, although a tough choice.

Tough choice.
Falcon so the missus doesn't get confused with the wiper being on the wrong side of the steering wheel, Mondeo for spec sheet.

I chose falcon too. I'm sure the mondeo is better in other ways but I can't stand FWD. I wish ford made a rwd smaller car, cause i'm in the market. Might have to get the Mrs a toyota 86.

I find it odd that so many people seem to have an issue with the wiper thing, its really not hard. We have had the cars in my sig for a few years now and you dont even think of it. Certainly not a reason to get one or the other I would have thought.

I'm sorry but shouldn't the G6E have the name change to G4E since it got the 4 banger Ecoboost under the hood???

That's been discussed as well ... and Ford are not really marketing it like that.
G6E is just the luxury model ..... they are targetting the marketing at ECOBoost as the "catchphrase" for this power plant. Most will end up being base models .... which aren't even called XT anymore .... so it will just mainly be known as ECOBoost Falcon and that's it really.

I'd probably take the Mondeo, sell it and buy a Ford Explorer which will leave me with some change left over

All depends what you need to carry around. Sedans just dont have a large enough openings for a lot of people. Example; I play the drums - when I had my EB Fairmont, I had to lift the bass drum in through the front door, wind the seat down, and lift it over into the back seat. The front door was the only opening big enough to fit it in the car. Before the Fairmont I had a KA Laser - drums fitted in that with far less hassle. I've never owned a sedan since I sold that EB in 2000, and (unless its a classic) I never will again. As for body strength, traditionally a sedan would be more rigid than a hatch but I doubt there would be much in it these days with higher strength composite materials etc. |

Sedans suck if you have a couple of little kids and want to go on holidays. Wagons and Hatches are the go for versatility. (Except dunger BA/F wagons......yucko)

I would take the Falcon, but I would prefer one with a real engine.

Funny how many said “Falcon.” LOL.
In all seriousness, I would not want either. Why don’t you throw TD Mondeo and LPG G6E into the mix, because then it would be a choice. In my case would depend on whether I was going to keep it (I6) or give it to the missus (TD.) Back to your actual choice, nup, neither. Since it’s a free car, I would take the G6E, put some badges on it that made it sound like a car’s name and not a shoe size, retune the motor and proceed to flog the crap out of it. Deliver it back to Ford after I had managed to blow the engine. |
