ok where did 4wd bashing come into this thread?? my original thread wasnt to bag out 4wds, even tho i dont have a 4wd,i still think there i cool vehicle,i love tough cars so thats explained! also how many people carry .44 guns around in their car in case they get into road rage and have to point a gun at someone in a car???!!!!sounds like a hollywood movie to me!!

i also beleive that it dosnt matter what car it is, theres always someone in every type of vehicle thats a d!ckhead.!i could garrentee you that there'd be a stupid idiot driver in cars like ferrari's and lambo's that are worth about 10 falcons! point is im not trying to bag out 4wd drivers, just the bloke in this specific 4wd!

cheers

Gotta say i hate people who tailgate, but its even worse when you see some guy stopping in the middle of the road. Not saying your wrong Braden, im 100% sure alot on here who are saying you should go out of your way to a d1ckh3ad who is breaking the law in the first place, would have done a similar thing once faced with such a siituation.

Simply the best possible thing to have done would be to, stay in the left lane, at the speed limit that your speedo reads, if there was a right lane then he couldve overtaken you.

^^^
as iv explained more than once, i was sitting on exactly 60 in a 60 zone on a one lane hwy coming just out of town, there was a 2 lane section furthur back which he decided not to speed up and overtake me like that, but rather wait till the 2 lane section was over and then drive right up my a$$!as iv also said anyone who tailgates me, i'll eventually brake test them, not at the start but after a little bit, i give them time to back off first before i brake test them.

And as explained lots of times before, if the guy was so ****ed off, the safest option for you would have been to just let him past. What if he just broke up with his wife/girlfriend and was suicidal? Again, I ask, are you still right if you are dead?

To all the people who say no-one ever carries guns in their car in Australia, search google for 'Road Rage gun' and read some of the Australian stories....

I definately agree that the morons will get busted eventually. But I wish they'd get done for tailgating over anything else, and the sad truth is that will most likely never happen. Almost every time I'm in traffic with a cop car nearby, I'm being tailgated and the cop car is also tailgating. I've had someone sit ridiculously close to my rear bumper in full view of police in traffic and nothing happened. I have a feeling they've had it drummed into them for years from the top of the chain that speeding is to be stomped out, and that that takes some of their focus off other offences.

I consider tailgating to be driving recklessly, but I could bet my EL that most people only picture/associate reckless driving with erratic driving behavior.

my god what a thread....bradens, you only needed to give him a flash o the lights and a beep of the horn, not keeping it going........if you'd flashed and beeped me in that manner i woulda got on my brakes too........

from your first post you come across as a bit of a tool......no need to act like you did on the roads...

I've owned a number of 4 wheel drives and they all could do 140 kmh top speed but not one of them could overtake in a few hundred metres
.
I know what your saying; I've been in your position too. And felt that way as well.
But when I need to let a tailgater know they're too close I keep the accelerator down and left foot tap the brake to just turn the lights on but not lose speed.

If he hit your car, what if he hit one corner of it? And you spear across the road into oncoming traffic?

Convert it to MPFi, then 5 speed conversion, cam and extracters. That should see you easily beating your mates VS 5 speed.

ok here is a cenario for you

my old man had a 1974 nissan patrol that would leave your falcon for dead it used to do a 4 wheel burnout in 1 2 3rd gears amd pop wheel stands of the line

now what if it was him tail gating you, you would have no chance (im not saying that he does tail gate ) i think i would have problems getting away from it

all im saying is that not all 4x4s are slow and a bit of curticy on the road goes a long way

so i think we all need to heed the warnings about breaking in front of a 4x4

i just think its downright stupid

Fact #1
If you brake test someone you don't deserve to be part of our community and should be rounded up and "removed" from society

Fact #2
Might is right. It may not be written down but it is a fantastic way not to die

Fact #3
The level of intelligence shown in this thread by a considerable portion of the posters would be humorous if it was not so sad.

Happily, only after they round up and remove all tailgaters first, but then I wouldn't need to braketest anyone.

Seem's alot of people here are trying to Self Righteously Rationalise their own tailgating. :

Respect - There is none of this on todays road. This is why people get bashed at red lights.
If someone wants to pass, regardless what they are driving, let them, if they speed, thet them, you are not a copper and are not in a position to police the road.

I agree, but not every road is it safe to pull over on, nor are they safe to be pushed and in fact when you know a road well sometimes it's not safe to let someone overtake you.

I travelled the Pacific Highway almost everyday for two years here on the north coast and the amount of times people overtook on near blind corners and blind short straights was staggering. The 'highway' around here isn't a four laned, super smooth tarmac motorway it's just a regular, run of the mill patchy, narrow road full of local cane trucks, slow moving tractors and all manner of unexpected paraphenalia.

At one stage we had 8 fatal accidents on that road in 6 weeks, just in the 40km stretch I'd do each day! It's an example of a road where 150% of your attention has to be focussed on your surroundings, not solely on someone tailgating you, bullying you and generally driving in a dangerous manner.

Lumpy :

Intresting to see the mindset of somepeople.

People are suddenly either brake testers or tailgaters........

Obviously having a 3rd type of people (normal) is a bit to much to handel

people are really quick to tell other people whats right and wrong but i can garrentee that everyone on this forum isnt a perfect driver.

if one person on this forum can honestly say that they've never been angry at someone else's driving and in response has done something a bit silly themselves please say because i dont even want to meet you. i dont like liars.

i admitted at the start of this thread that i wasnt happy with my reaction at the end, with the second flashing and beeping, so please go back and have a proper read to what people write first instead of jumping the gun and slinging off at people.

If I brake-tested every single one that sat 2 feet from my bumper at 110kmh, I'd be dead. That said, I do think it is irresponsible of them, but there's nothing I can do about it so why get worked up about it. It's like a kitten having a fight with a grizzly...
i agree with ya about the roads after ballarat... i have to drive on them nearly everyday...

what i tend to do is in traffic or on the highway is i back off and i make them pass me cos i aint gonna speed to keep them happy and most of the time the side of the road isnt good enough to pull over on. (and lately they have been putting in those wire railling **** on the side of the road which gives u less room) i think of it this way if they are in front of me they can go **** off as long that they dont involve me if they want to be a idiot. but ive had people in small cars cut me off on the highway at ballan and they have given me lip but usally i dont bother about them....
the worst offenders ive found... i dont care what people say .. they are p platers taxis and of course my favourite the b double trucks

i aint perfect but ive had too many close calls particularly with the taxis!
