Look at these also....

The CAA, very powerful and is law!!
Civil Aviation Authority

Mate look up your local council and ask them what there laws are governing airborne motorised craft??

Most local councils have strict rules on this. My area classes a kite as an airborne craft and can give you a fine if they feel like it.

Sorry to go on and on, but I love this RC hobby and dont want any more rules restricting what I can do.. They realy are dangerous... complain and then complain some more.....

Man what a situation.

That would drive me insane. On one hand you should be able to do what you like as they are the fools coming into ypur property.

But, the catch 22 is that they are bogans, bogans dont think and hence your dog will become pink, or they might scratch your car or something stupid like that.

Id go the smart way with some kind of law. As boring as it is they will probably **** their pants and stop it.

Superpusuit is right when he says they cant do it there, hell I think its even illegal to use your petrol powered R/C car in a public area that is not fenced off etc and built for R/C purposes.

So yeah, be smart, be cunning, and bend those buggers over!

Also, id be getting the RSPCA on their backsides in regards to your dog, thats low.

I'm guessing your poor mate would like to recoup some of the costs involved in dealing with these morons. So, find out the frequency, fly it into your yard. Toss it on ebay and voila

Alternatively;

Potato canon + balloons filled with rice + flour

Haha, im into nitro trucks... horrible things those little engines... good fun tho. No, there's no restrictions (well, not that strict) on using gas land vehicles - but its an issue of common sense and consieration for one's neighbours. I only ever race mine at the track, not worth pi**ing people off for the sake of doing speed runs up and down the road...

For starters, you're not allowed to use glow engines at night. Same hours as operating stuff like edge trimmers, lawn mowers... think its part of the clean air act?

Secondly... as per superpursuit's post... RC planes and choppers are only supposed to be flown in designated flying areas.

Forget about the frequency clash, unless you wanna fork out a few hundred bucks for a frequency checker so you know what crystal they run... good chance tho, if they can affored glow powered whirly's, they can probably afford digital spectrum radio gear - which is digital @ 2.4ghz and impossible to clash with.

More to the point, send one of those things out of control with a radio clash and you might just kill someone...

Just call the cops. They prob wont know the ins and outs of using rc helis... but noise pollution is noise pollution.

You sure about that? I am/was pretty positive that you cannot do it were ever you like.

I have a mate that was told that he couldn't even use a schools basketball court as it was to public, and to loud.

It all depends on local council by-laws normally.....

I'm Sorry, but you were fleeced. Why would you pay so much money without asking for a copy of the receipt of purchase?

The sensible way is follow Superpursuit's advice as it is all correct. The evil (and fun way!) would be purchase the frequency controller

Haha... it's a bit like that.

As for noise, they're no louder (they're not meant to be) than an edge trimmer. Shouldnt be any dramas there, so long as its not first thing on sunday morning etc.. same as mowing the lawns.

Schools can move you on no matter what you're doing... its their property...

Its really just the noise that people dont like. Ive got electric offroaders that blow the doors off my nitro... no one seems to complain about them, despite the fact they're just as... if not.. more dangerous.

7.2 Models weighing up to 25 kg
7.2.1 Unless approval has been obtained beforehand, model aircraft should only be flown:
(a) when the weather is suitable;
(b) clear of the movement areas or runways of an aerodrome;
(c) below 400ft above ground level unless:
(i) clear of controlled airspace, and
(ii) further than 3 nautical miles from any aerodrome:
(d) within sight of the operator at all times;
(e) well clear of populous areas;
(f) at least 30m clear of persons, vessels, vehicles or structures. This can be reduced for persons behind the direction of take off. Other model operators and any assistants or officials may be within this distance; as may vessels, vehicles or structures under their control.
So pretty much needs to be in the middle of a cricket oval, not a back yard

This is certainly the way to go. It’s a very interesting read.

The council also needs to get their act together with this issue. Where would the council stand if someone was seriously injured by one of these things and they failed to act to a previous complaint?

And as for the noise, let’s face it. If you started up your edge trimmer or lawn mover at 8:30 pm and decided to trim the edges of your driveway, or mow your grass, they’d be around like a flash, and I’m pretty sure that they would do something about that.

We're talking about nitro helis? $300 wont even get you radio gear.

$300 will get you an entry level 6 channel electric heli.

Yeah but $300 would rebuild a broken heli no worries....... You need about $1600 for a small nitro heli with decent avionics.

Some light weight rope , a weight tied to one end and throw into the chopper blades as they fly into your yard . instant tangles. pull in rope and said chopper go inside and wait for knock on door ! Tell em to rack off till they get a court decision ! Done !

Going on the rope scenario, how about stringing some fishing line about 2 metres above the fence right where they had been flying... it would be very hard to see and particularly if they are doing it at dusk, they probably wouldnt notice it.... It would potentially act as a BIG spider web... and hold them in, once the blades tangle...

Number one: I cannot believe how far this thread has gone!.. It's been top of the Bar posts ALL day!
Number 2: The ingenuity, the stealthiness, the ways of combating these flying demons.. Some of you guys honestly should be working for ASIO or the Pentagon!
We've had vast & varied legal angles, We've had everyone from the Civil Aviation Authority to affiliations of model aero clubs.
We've had more suggested weapons to shoot the bastards down than, I'm sure, not even Vietnam saw!
But what a bloody great read!... You're ALL crazy, you know!

UPDATE

my mate settled it out of court as he has a record atm (well good behavior bond) any more trouble and es in the **** thus the reasoning for it.

because it hit the fence they are liable for payement of panels, my mate gets reimbursed hes moneys as it was trespassing or he has the option of taking ownership of it? some people know about this stuff is $1300 a good price to pay for a thunder tiger raptor 90? helicopter.it only damaged the rear blade thing and has a small didnt and scuff in the plastic,they got a fine for operating a group something motor after specified hourse, cops called in again and said that there will be heftier fines if they do it again, they are unable to opperate the helicopter in suburbia anymore
i said coucil and the cops were slow at acting and they said that"its not every day you have a black hawk down senario with petrol helicopters in narre warren"

You would probably find that they did take it seriously but had to find out all the legalities amongst their other work..

The good news is that they are being helpful now.. and your mate gets his money back or an irritating toy :

Good to hear it has been sorted (keep a close eye on your dogs for a little while.. goodness knows what colours they might be - or worse still, if they are out for real revenge...... don't want to think bout it)....
