oh also to answer ur question, u should leave enough space between u and the car ur over taking so that if the person suddenly opens the door, u have a chance to stop or avoid ripping his door and probably leg off

You can pay and book online... however it will not be refunded so you better hope nothing stops you from getting to the test. You are going to have to go to a QLD transport office anyway, may as well pay then.

The QLD transport website is your friend... many questions can be answered ;)

I highly doubt it. They wouldn't charge extra, but I seriously doubt they will be open. Your best bet is to ring on Monday (they will not be open Sunday) and check if your local centre will be open.

indicate to go around the parked car, if a car is approaching YOU give way to him....think of it as your lane is blocked all coming traffic must be given way to....unless its townsville then every man for himself

if your asking what is the rules in regards to not getting the cops to hand you a fine, then you MUST indicate your intentions ALWAYS, indicate and if safe go around

tell the idiot to not park there if the road is that small

The only reason I thought you wouldnt indicate is that it might make the oncoming cars think you are pulling into a driveway across the road.

^^who cares what the other drivers think? if you're pulling into a driveway it's not going to make them do anything different, they still won't give way to you

I had a friend fail his P's test because there was a chunk, maybe 4cm long, 2cm deep taken out of his front bumper. It's like anywhere though, some places may be very leniant, some may not.

Default Road Rule scenario question thread

If i have a stop sign in front of me and I stop at it. but cant see left or right clearly so I start to ease forward a few metres if cars are coming do i have to give way to them or should I start going now that ive already eased out. Im not talking that far out just a few metres in front of the stop line but enough for cars driving perpendicular to continue on their paths both ways.

So the best thing to do would probably be stop at the black line then stop where the theoretical red line is. Stop twice?

If I ease out towards the red line should I stop again? and wait there?

if i was in that situation i'd wait and give way and if i could back up a little..... but for your car L's? instructors probably want you to give way.. in fact; they probably fail you for not turning properly or something.. and not looking... even if you can't see anything.

I think if you stop at the red line when no cars are coming they might mark me down for a non-critical error of which Im allowed 9. I should probably cop it because I think ive only had about 4 or 5 each time i failed.

i edited my post... also are you from nsw ? or where

stop at the line for 3 seconds
look right
look left
take off (and try covering your brake) - though I think all instructors will mark you down (not sure if its a fail) if you are covering the brake with your left foot.

I did the test in my grandparent's VL. I remember the inspector only checked that all the indicators and brake lights were functioning properly. He didn't seem to care about the rest of the car.

My Grandmother got done for this in NSW years ago.

There were trees blocking her view, so she rolled over the stop line to where she could see, then stopped.

The officer said that you must stop at the stop line. If you cannot see, you can then creep forward until you can see, but you MUST have stopped at the line first.

I got done for stopping at the line then creeping forward, didnt get to stop again before police car drove past and decided that I had failed to stop... He couldnt be convinced that I had stopped and that I was creeping forward to see because there was a bin and parked cars obstructing my view... I couldn't be bothered contesting it.. probably should've reported his old POS car into the EPA though, since it blew smoke pretty heavily!

The officer that booked my grandmother was sitting up the road waiting for people to go through that stop sign, so he saw the whole thing.

Pretty sure she sent a letter in explaining the situation and pointing out her good driving record (which was a miracle in itself), and they let her off with a warning.
The trees were trimmed the next week.

I do this every day just about as right near work there is a stop sign near the crest of a hill on a very busy road. To the left there is a railway enbankment that is rather high so you can barely see traffic, same with the right.

I always stop and then creep forward until I can see. It's never far out, but it is enough to pass the solid line.

move forward, see if there are cars or not, then reverse back to where u were, then move forward and repeat until it is safe to go.

or u can do what it teaches in learner book and that is to stop where ur supposed to stop, then slowly and carefully move forward until u see better, then give way to all traffic and when its safe, u can go.

You must stop completely behind the line, then if your view is obstucted you may move forward slowly and if clear you may proceed without the need to stop again.

67 Stopping and giving way at a stop sign or stop line at
an intersection without traffic lights
(1) A driver at an intersection with a stop sign or stop line, but
without traffic lights, must stop and give way in accordance
with this rule.
Offence provision.
Note 1 Intersection and stop line are defined in the dictionary. This rule
applies also to T-intersections — see the definition of intersection.
Note 2 For this rule, give way means the driver must remain stationary
until it is safe for the driver to proceed — see the definition in the
dictionary.
Note 3 Part 6 deals with stopping and giving way at an intersection with
traffic lights.
Note 4 This rule only applies to a driver turning left using a slip lane if the
stop sign or stop line applies to the slip lane — see Part 20, Divisions 2
and 3, especially rules 330 and 345.
(2) The driver must stop at the stop line or, if there is no stop line,
the driver must stop as near as practicable to, but before
entering, the intersection.

if the line is that far back from the actual intersection and you cant see anything, id just slowly ease up to the end of the street so you can see.....stop, giveway then go when safe

if its a disupte with the driving instructor, well theres a difference between following the road rules to the point, and following to the point that its the safest way for all.....if you cant see that exactly that....see the council about the problem
