Well, today I took a TS ST for a test run. For those that know Melbourne, ran from the top end of Elizabeth Street, down Grattan Street, then Lygon St to Alexandria Pde and out onto the Eastern Freeway. Down the freeway to the Burke Rd exit, threw a u-turn and back to the show room. Freeway allowed me to open her up a bit.

All I can say is.....O....M.....G....!!!!

So much so that you guys can add me to the (almost) ST owners club!

Signed the paperwork today. Now just need to finalise the loan side of things. Delivery is due at this stage in the second week of June. Car is a 2013 manufacture.

Those 3 weeks are going to go slow........

Curious why you are sticking with 91 for this period? They recommend 95-98 only.

Anyway, we're getting 8-8.3 average on 98 only, including freeway cruising and giving it some fairly often. So I imagine if you drive it carefully <7.5 should be easily doable consistently. But face it, you didn't buy this car to save fuel

The engine calibration is 88ron safe!!! and OK to be used with 91 to 98ron

88ron safe? Where did you read that? Hope it's not a US site as their fuel is rated different to ours.

As badmax says, hope that's not US info, their premium is 91-93. It might run ok on 91 here, but it still doesn't explain why you are choosing to do your first 5000kms on it. I'd treat it as emergency fuel only.

Edit: looks like US 88 would be ~93 for us, so Aussie 91 isn't even US 88 equivalent. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating so yeah, be careful

I can't say I blame you. The guys on the British Skoda site keep starting threads about fuel usage, and I think, "Who cares how much fuel is being burnt when you're driving a rocket ship?" The ST obviously goes pretty hard, and it doesn't use that much fuel doing so. What more can you ask for?

Yet interestingly the owners manual from Europe (where our cars are from) says 98 recommended and 95 minimum.

I certainly wouldn't be putting 91 in it. I definitely won't be running it in mine.

I don't even use 91 in my normal focus, 95 if the servo has no 98 at the time or if i'm out in the bush. Otherwise always 98, it does feel smoother.

My fuel door lid states E10 capable. Surely that means that the local E10 which is only mandated at 91 RON by the authorities tells me that 91 is acceptable. Normally use 98 myself or 95 when I have no other choice.

Don't assume, I haven't read the owners manual. But quite often the e10 sticker is placed in the lid only because it's for emergency use.

I know this is not authoritative, but on the test drive on the weekend, the saleswoman mentioned that the ST only requires 91RON fuel. I specifically questioned her on this as I am sure I had read somewhere that 95RON was the minimum.

Good work on the changes Phil, even though the roof is not my cup of tea. The side decals I don't mind at all. I can't really tell any difference with the rear end though.

Oh, and can you guys confirm for me that to use an ipod classic with the steering wheel controls, you need the combined USB/3.5mm cable?

Thanks guys, yeah I love how the decals turned out, im not usually one for covering entire panels in wrap but im really digging the roof lol, the rear end just has a little strip underneath the badge, it looks like a shadow but does an awesome job hiding the reverse camera which was what i was after :-)

I've done almost 12,500 km and have averaged 8.3 l/100 km on (mostly) 95 RON. That's about 80% careful delicate driving, and 20% slightly less delicate driving. I don't know how many litres that is per tank but I fill up every 510 km on average.

I noticed there's a difference between the fuel usage reported on the panel vs calculated per fill-up. The car reports better mileage than the calculated value.

That little black bit on the rear is the goods. I didn't even notice it until reading this description; really like it.
