^This. We already buy everything else online. Would be good if this translates to a smaller markup, I doubt it though.

a cheap ad with a d1 driver wont make this car an ae86, now if initalE comes out and some naturally gifted tofu delivery driver driving an 86 can become supream leader champion of the mountain beating r35 gtr's and evo 15 lancers then sure should sell well, but seriously japanese sports cars had 147kws in 1992 20 years later its a hairdresser car plan and simple

Nissan are rumoured to have something similar in the build, and are aiming at a RRP of 10% cheaper. Using the turbo 1.6 from the Juke, so it will actually have some useable torque, plus better modability a turbo engine provides.

Its not a Silvia/200SX either.

this rubbish is what helped toyota become one of the biggest car manufactor in the world, a simple man can see that they called this car an 86 to try to bring back some of its heratige from the ae86 very big shoes to fill, that is why they use a d1 driver in the add do you follow? If this car sells in great number i will be very suprised (I have 5 years working for toyota)
hence my hairdresser comment, although i should claify hairdresser car to me means a person that is an early adaptor, somebody that want's to feel cool when they have the sunglasses on and show off this new slightly diffrent from what is a normal car.
So yeah hairdresser car and even if you not a haidresser your still a hair dresser in this one, at least order in red and blend in with the hyundai tribions on the road

So my focus is a hairdresser's car now? And a GTS. Whatever your smoking it must be good. You havnt posted anything decent in this thread yet. And just because you work at Toyota means nothing, you probably assemble camrys.

Its not a toyota its an na boxer powered Subaru, You can put all the toyota badges on it in the world, but if another car company actually did all the work its not really theirs. I look at it as kind of cheating, It hasn't got the soul of an AE86 either more like the soul of a VW Beetle

Instead of spending 15 grand on a car that cost 35 grand why not buy a better base car ie 370z, megane, wrx etc

These rumors of a Nissan competitor are intriguing , nothing like a runaway sales success to get the attention of the competition.

Win/win for the consumer.

How about it ford? Rwd focus sized coupe with the n/a coyote. No fi, just all motor goodness. There's ya GRWD.

The Nissan one based on the Juke platform was in yesterdays paper. They called it a 'Mini Z' by nickname...

$22K base price (I gues that is USD) and it looks horn. Looks a little more squat and muscular with a central bonet air intake....

Will try and find an article / picture. It has at least half a page in yesterdays Telegraph.

All the articles online have what looks like a coupe looking Micra or a weird concept car as the image... I wonder what was in yesterdays peper then??? Whatever it was... it looks great.

Exactly, 35grand imo is alot of money to modify a car and throw away the warrenty, reliability and resale . Id rather spend a little more in the first place and not have to molester to have decent power.

If that's the case why are some here modifying xr6t falcons and throwing away their warranty when they could get a f6? And the argument goes on....

People mod for different reasons. Usually to make a car personal. Just because they do what you wouldn't (as far as cars are concerned) doesn't make wrong but rather, unique. Would make life a bit boring on this forum if all we had were the same cars in different colors only.

And does it matter in the eyes of a car company?

All it needs to do is tick some boxes which would include ....... relatively cheap, look good, go reasonable well, have some cup holders, look modern, look good, economical and look good.

Then they can sell them to who ever and make some money. They might not be the fastest thing 0-100, have 400kw's but the price does reflect this. The car companies making these know they are not 'the best' but they ticked the correct boxes, did their research and then they can sell them and make some profit. That is what is all about. Not winning traffic light races and 1/4 mile sprints. Guessing that 90% of the market wouldn't give 2 hoots about this. Hence, being the greatest or even close to is a moot point. Profit is what's it all about.

Saw a BRZ (Impreza Blue) at the dealer when we picked up out Polo GTi this week. Salesman who sold us our car (VW salesman admittedly) said he had a strap in it the other day. "Lovely car", he said, "Just needs an engine." He also commented on how stiff it was on the road which I found intriguing considering the Polo GTi is certainly no Rolls Royce.

Was she complaining that the torque was disappointing or that it didn't hit 5 seconds to 100 ....... or that it attracted random blokes with cameras?
