Looks like a tuner that was/is renowned with the previous ST has developed a tune for the new ST. Should be interesting.

Spoke to my dealers service manager this morning and they weren't aware of the engine mount TSB. Not too worried as I'm sure it'll come out in the wash eventually. I have bought the rear mount anyway so will prob look at changing it over myself after the 3K dealer service

I'm assuming the dealer will need at least a couple of days to get it prepped, so am planning on picking it up around the 5th July.

Will be a longer two weeks than the three weeks gone so far. I'm sure the wait will be worth it though

Just a follow up for you guys. Seems that the predicting of ships into ports is as about as accurate as predicting trains on the Met in Melbourne.

Caught up with the dealer late last week to find out that the car still hadn't arrived. "It's end of financial year, I'm afraid to go near the stock controller" was what I was told after I asked for a new expected date.

Got another follow up call yesterday to say that the car was not expected in this week either So I asked for the ship details so I could track it. Still waiting for it! Apparently there is another guy who ordered a couple of weeks before me that is waiting for the same delivery to arrive.

Maybe I misheard them when they said it would be here early to mid June. Perhaps they said July.

The wait continues......

I'm sure it will be worth it though.....

Are you using the Marine Traffic app? I found it a bit frustrating because sometimes it wouldnt be updated for days on end and the ETA's werent very accurate.

If you want tracking info thats a bit more accurate (assuming you have the name of the vessel your cars on), try the Wallenius Wilhelmsen website http://sagaweb.2wglobal.com/AppSchedules/

You can search by vessel, port etc etc and generally its pretty accurate and it gets updated regularly.

I probably could have had their demo in a similar time frame, but they wanted more for it than a brand noob

Nah, not using any at this stage as I don't have the ship data. But if I do get it, I'll keep your info in mind. Ta.

My cousin is looking at getting a new car, currently he has a 1996 Mazda MX5 putting out 138KW at the rears.

I've swayed him towards a Focus ST but he isn't sold on FWD yet, and is questioning Ford build quality and if they use cheap crap to put their cars together lol.

Anything I can get off you guys to help his descision?

Focus STs are made in Germany so build quality will be very good. No issues with my car. Germans are known for their build quality.

That's quite funny considering the car he owns was built during a time when mazdas and fords were more or less the same cars with different badging.

I'm pretty confident that the ST being built in Germany will impress him. Paint quality alone leaves current Mazda's for dead.
just get him to drive one, if he doesn't like it, it's no big deal.

Get him a drive. I'd buy one without hesitation if the bank would loan the $. Only just out of my reach unfortunately.

My partner decided she wanted a Focus XR5 around a year ago. My partner loves it. On occasion I drove it (6 times maybe). Loved the XR5 so much I traded my BF MKII EGAS today for an LV XR5. Front yard looks a little like an XR5 hideaway now with 2 of them here.

The way the traction control, stability control etc has been implemented makes the fact it's fwd null and void. I'd be driving a new ST now if I could.

I've been slowly working on him to take one for a test drive, he's going to go down to Dandenong Ford and see if he can take one for a spin.

He was either going to drop another $15K into engine/box/diff on his MX5 or keep it in its current form, leave it as a weekender and get a new car.

Its just hard trying to get him out of that mindset that Ford makes cheap **** that won't last 3 years.

He's already eyed off a set of RS Focus wheels for his potential purchase, lol.

Ford Pakenham and Cranbourne have them in the show room. Pakenham has a white one with black interior and dark blue accents. Looks nice. There is a silver one at Ford Cranbourne which I just didn't like it as much as the white one. Ford Cranbourne also have a Tangerine scream (yellow) one out back. Not sure about Berwick. When I dropped past Berwick the dealer mainly had Falcon based cars and Territories.

The only dealer that I've heard that will allow a test driver or has one to test drive is City Ford. The best way to find one you can have a drive is track them down via http://carsales.com.au and figure out which dealers have demo's as most don't.

The TS @ City Ford is the TS I test drove. I did exactly as you said, searching through carsales to see who had one that I could test drive. It also helped that City Ford are/were offering a very good price. so I didn't bother looking too far astray (I did try my two local dealers: one couldn't match the price and the other is still to get back to me almost 7 weeks after I called them.)

When I called City Ford to organise the test drive, it was not a hassle at all. Dianne has been excellent to deal with the whole way through. She certainly knows her stuff.

So spoke to the dealer today when I dropped my car off, apparently the TSB is only for the states due to their "different suspension setup because they are left hand drive" I honestly don't see how it can be so different being a global car, I will be ringing Ford CRC sometime this week to hear it from the horses mouth

Sounds like VW claiming only DSGs made in China needed a recall.

I'll be surprised if FoA customer service know anything about the TSB.

You need to complain to the dealer that you have the fault. You will also need to put fault on the customer questionnaire you should have or will get after 3 months.

It's a long drawn out process but the key is to complain to dealer and get him to forward your complaint to customer service.

The fix is worth the hassle, remember it's not just a mount change, there's also a clutch hydroloic change as well................................. You don't have to 'Put up with it'......................... That's what dealer wants you to do. Make him work for his profit.

Pretty sure this would be a Ford of Australia call, not a dealer call. We are talking new parts in this instance. I too suffered, countered to a degree with a $110 imported eFocus mount, not holding my breath for any Ford assistance.

1. The complaining of it in the wet - I'm going to argue that this is just standard FWD wheel "chatter" I've had it in every FWD car I've ever driven. Spin the wheels, the front end bounces (wet or dry, worse in the wet) - nothing can be done about this.

2. The "Bang" - you get it only if you accelerate really hard and shift 1-2, sometimes 2-3, while still accelerating hard (and I mean HARD, in my experience it only happens when I'm really flooring it).

Based on the TSB from USA, and the fact that others have reduced it with an engine mount, you could say it's a design flaw, but likely only a noise issue. I don't think things will break unless you're doing it all the time. Also, based on the TSB, there's a chance there's been a design change and newer cars will have the issue resolved from the factory with those new parts.

Interesting I'll have to test this out, but I do wonder whether they have already changed the design for the current STs? Mine was made in Feb 2013 - does anyone know whether the newer STs will incorporate this "design change"?
