When, after 11 years of owning it, you still sit on the far side of the dining table so you can check out your ride while eating brekky.

I wondered how he afforded it, as did we all, because he certainly wasn't a corporate high flier with a rich daddy...he worked in a factory and was packing his gear to head off to the mines at the time. He also wasn't a drug dealer or into anything illegal, so we asked him.

"Simple", he said..."sacrifice".
He said since he was a kid he'd wanted a 911...had toys of them, posters of them, and when he left school at 16 and started working, he rode a pushbike or occasionally borrowed mum and dads car. He didn't go to clubs and pubs, went out to only free events, gave up smoking and drinking, and piled every spare cent he made into a bank account, also working a second job at a fast food place. He didn't have a steady girlfriend and just kept his eye on the prize.
Eventually when he was 22, he had almost enough to buy an older Porsche (which at the time weren't worth a fortune), and got a small loan of a few thousand to make up the difference.
Then he was a 22 year old guy with a Porsche 911 in need of a bit of a tidy up and a respray, which he paid for with a few overtime shifts. Then he was set. Time for his life to take off again.

I met him again a few years ago at a reunion of old workmates from back then, and he now is married with kids, and driving an older XR6T...but he still has the Porsche in the shed for weekend spins with the wife and littlies. The man had his priorities right from a young age...

Lucky bastard...

When you make a pot plant from a 240Z bellhousing, cut down tailshaft and flywheel welded together. Also pot plant made from rocker cover, tapped out to suit head bolts.

When you postpone your honeymoon because the V8's are on that weekend. And when you ask the guests at your wedding to leave the doors open so you can see your GT parked outside.

When Skyfall is a sad movie because the DB5 got blown up.

I saved up and bought an XB coupe when I was 22, and am going to drive it for my honeymoon next year

When you refer to the intersections up from your house as "Turn one" & "Turn two"

The boys in white lab coats start laughing when you roll in the driveway to go over the pits.

That you consider a fireproof racesuit, gloves boots & helmet are considered "Driving apparel"

When you park your pride and joy in the city for a few hours, in very carefully selected spot, drive around for ages to find it, parallel park with no spot behind and motorbike spots in front but you still worry about it and other idiots (read non car people)........

Thanks guys, I thought it was just me that was mentally retarded when it came to cars LOL

When you have people at work you come up to you and ask for your oppinion on their cars... or

when your first car costs $600 to buy ( tc cortina ) and ends up really costing you $7000 by the time you finish. ( i ran out of cash )

Not sure if this one counts because its kinda car and motorbike related...

You know your a petrolhead when your friend is driving behind you when your on your bike, and says how your blowing white smoke when you redline the bike, and instead of putting your head in your hands, thinking "Dammit, another expense to find money for.." you think "YEEEAAAHHH another excuse to pull a motor apart!"
