I'd be happy to help out on the SA side of things if it were to go ahead.

It would actually show, especially if we get more people out than were at the riots, that the good do outweigh the bad.

Perhaps the Vic contingent could end there cruise at the said Bob Jane store?

What happened to the “you beaut whiz bang” flying squad that the police were putting together?

http://www.news.9msn.com.au/national...s-flying-squad

This, to me, is exactly what they are needed for but where were they?

This article was from June, 25 last year, so you’d think that they’d have it up and running by now.

I really feel for the shop owner, poor bloke.

Just something that gets to me, people saying they arent car enthusiasts, unfortunately they are. They are in the same group as us, and are painting us all with the same brush. Its just unfortunate that we get tied into it as well.

The Police air wing should drop dye bombs on the crowd before deploying officers then lockup anyone wearing it.

Although the police possibly already know, it would be good to see a forum like this with as many members we have, to post links to any other forum, web pages etc that were promoting this crap before it happened and then pass it on to the authorities so they can see we are not all idiots like those who participated.

They are car enthusiasts in the same way that soccer hooligans are soccer enthusiasts (I am equally sure that true soccer fans would argue whether they are true soccer enthusiasts).
The difference lay in the simple fact that soccer hooligans are treated as anti-social extremists. The 'authorities' target the individuals responsible, rather then focusing their sole attention on implementing more stringent (and ineffective) controls on the sport.

Where where the cops? If I was the comissioner, there would have been all the cops down there in riot gear, block off the whole area and bash the crap out of anyone who was a part of it, use tear gas and water cannons and those helicopters that drop water for bush fires, hit the whole area with it. Nothing brings people into line like being beaten to a pulp.

If that was China, they'd all be dead.

I realise it is short notice, but we may be able to organise an AFF charity Good Friday cruise & show and shine somewhere. (along the lines of our Flowerdale cruise) Although the events of last night won't make securing a site easy.

What about a cruise up to Mount Macedon? At memorial cross on the mountain there is a nice little cafe there, does a good hamburger. Good drive up there too, its about 50 minutes from Melbourne. All the towns in the Macedon Ranges areas have little cafes and stuff too, in Woodend, there is a bakery which does a good vanilla slice

I was thinking more along the lines of issuing all Police with Paint Ball guns.

They haven’t seen the YouTube footage yet, but I’m sure that they will be more than a little disappointed when they do.

Brad told me that they are getting a lot of calls of support and if there’s anything good to come out of this is that with the amount of photos and video taken, it shouldn’t be that hard to identify some of these morons.

This type of behaviour disgusts me.

How can someone organise a riot anyway? It's anyone's guess. People get rowdy and riots happen.

I'd like to know if the Police were already in attendance well before anything happened because it doesn't take a scientist to know that there would be trouble and this "protest" was organised a week ago.

Ironic that the same stretch of highway is now home to two destructive events attended to by the masses.

There's a police station about 200-300 meters from where this happened.
I would be surprised if they were not in attendance as soon as the road became engulfed by the masses of people.

In the first video that surfaced, you can make out police cars in the distance as the camera pans to the right (on Warrigal Rd, presumably directing traffic as they are nowhere near the people).

Can we please refrain from identification of suspects in this thread. Those with information should advise the relevant authorities but we are not about to condone the naming of individuals who are entitled to the beenfit of doubt until charged and found guilty by a court.

I drove past on the way home last night. I had no idea it was on thus no idea of what was going on. All I saw was thousands (I estimated 2 thousand) of people around with police cars in the area and the chopper. I must have drove past before the kicking of the windows, I think, because it just seemed to be like a lot of males in one area and I thought they might have been evacuated from the pub and whatever else is down that section of road.

Pearly, their did seem to be a fair few modified cars in the area... probably just a bit more than any other Friday night down Dandenong Road! I did see another Ford Forums member driving towards the city (who I wont mention) who was driving sensibly anyway.

Whether or not most of the people were onlookers... I think that's probably what happened. I mean, Princes Hwy on a Friday night at around 12, I'd suggest a few people got out to have a look. I just wanted to get home.. ;)
