The popularity of Mazda 3 and super low financing rates for Corolla?
I doubt that either of those two competitor's cars are making that much money...
It is clear that Mazda and Toyota recognise the threat that Cruze poses and have responded.
Not to mention the delightful Focus Ambiente ripping in under Cruze...

Not for long. Rio Tinto won't be buyer Hilux as it isn't 5 star ANCAP certified. RTIO have confirmed they are buying Ranger. BHP and FMG are likely to jump as well.

I can't believe Lolux sales are so high. It demonstrates the general public are brainwashed by marketing.

Why haven't Ford given the diesel engine a run in the Falcon?. It would have been such a better option than the ecoboost

Good point!

I got my info from here: http://www.caradvice.com.au/175717/c...rs-and-losers/

This paragraph: "Meanwhile in the blue corner, the Ford Focus enjoyed its best sales month since January 2008, reaching 1667 units. The Ranger (1611) and Territory (1280) were both up on May 2011, while the Falcon struggled to 1008 sales and remains more than 25 per cent off last year’s pace with just 5415 sales so far in 2012."

Yeah, seems to be a few mistakes. Here are all above 1,500 - no particular order
Toyota Yaris - 1826
Ford Focus - 1667
Holden Cruze - 2860
Hyundai i30 - 2159
Mazda3 - 3288
Toyota Corolla - 3155
VW Golf - 1591
Toyota Camry (4cyl) - 1850
Holden Commodore - 2521
Mazda CX-5 - 1680
Nissan x-trail - 1518
Toyota Prado - 1900
Nissan Navara 4x4 - 2252
Toyota Hilux 4x4 - 3539

Here is the thing with the Pick-up segments, 4x2 & 4x4 are listed seperately. So True Pick-up numbers 4x2 + 4x4 are as follows
Falcon Ute - 584
Ranger - 506 + 1105
Colorado - 47 + 158
Holden Ute - 817
Isuzu D-max - 119 + 608
BT-50 - 317 + 740
Triton - 456 + 1389
Navara - 184 + 2252
Hilux - 1087 + 3539
Amarok - 41 +316

Sorry I didn't even look at great wall - good luck to anyone who buys one.

It's becoming more obvious that the Falcon and Commodore Utes just don't make sense anymore, even with a diesel, they are just not as practical as a Ranger or Hilux.

I was just about to say Falcon ute had a good month (when compared to prior months).. Maybe EcoEpi is starting to have some effect on ute sales??

Screw Fleets, Just personally if I were after a large car like a Falcon in the modern day you can be sure I'd want a diesel in it or I simply wouldn't buy one. These days large sedans are prestige vehicles and should have a prestige motor or they just wont sell imho. You would need to be reasonably silly to buy a near 2 ton petrol powered large car against a much better overall performing small car or a large car with a diesel and the sales figures show that.

The kind of guys that would buy a Falcon like my father once he retired didn't because there is no suitable Falcon, I'm sure that pushes a lot of potential buyers to the 2WD Territory but it really should be an option in the Falcon.

As a dual purpose machine or towing rig I'd take a diesel ute over a less drivable Hilux. If it was a strictly company machine doing all it's work off road then sure you would go with the Hilux

Positive product in the pipeline which will give the EcoLPI fans (sedan and Ute) further options, hopefully helping Falcon sales.

Ecolpi can have 18 inch wheels fitted in the coming months instead of 17's.

19's should also be available, which also means you can option the full luxury pack.

Should only be a good thing for consumers. I know many instances where people had to turn away from ecoLPI simply because they weren't able to get these options.

sounds good.. luxary/cut price LPG motoring and a a bit faster than the petrol.. quite a few "wins" there.

How about a LPG i6 T for xr6T and FPV 6T's? random ford i6's on LPG have been down the quater in 10's so a fast LPG i6T is not such a dream right?

No offense taken, Joe
but have you noticed the difference in price between a Corolla and a Camry or a Mazda 3 and a 6?
That should tell you something about the skinny profit margins on small cars..

My wife has just bought a Mazda 3 Skyactive.

It's a Dec 2011 build and she payed $23000 for it. Now that's almost $10k in saving. Only has 250km on the clock and not registered.

That's what i call discounting to get the sale, something (i would doubt) Ford would do.

That's excellent! Ford need to make these cars available with as many of the features they can to grab as many sales as they can.

Any more information on the potential for another Territory model too?

Great pick up, a real bargain there...

This is what I'm talking about with sales of 3 and Corolla, sure Mazda and Toyota are getting sales
but they seem to be doing it by cutting prices to the bone...Holden and Ford not so much but getting good sales.

New i30 is quite a package. Leaps and bounds ahead of the old one. I expect to see its sales increase and probably take a few from Cruze.
