I went to Hanging Rock car show 2 weeks ago & saw No's 230 & 385. I took photos, if I can get them off my camera I will post them up.
Cheers Rob. |

moff donated the 77 bathurst winner to the bathurst museum. for sandown 78, it was painted in cobra colours and given the horizontal repeaters on the quarter panels (bonds car kept the vertical repeaters). it was then painted in the federation colours and later restored back to the 77 colours - still with the horizontal repeaters though

Thanks for the replies. I thought that it was the '77 winner XB with an XC update but wasn't sure. What threw me was the horizontal rear quarter lights and the XC dash as that is a fair bit of work for asthetics especially in racing. I knew that I read it somewhere but it didn't seem to add up (to me anyway). Thanks Wayne |

So as per one of the posts in this great thread - can anyone confirm if the windback sun roof was actually factory fitted to any genuine XC Cobra's ?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Cookie, I have photos of the Cobra just after my Dad clobbered thehorse. David Price -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted 441 days ago "Cookie" my dad is Dave Price Crash Repairs. I remember thecar in the workshop after it had hit the horse, which from memory happened nearthe stuart drive-in. He may have other details if your interested etc.... Regards Dave -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lendi Posted 807 days ago Hi Doug I saw #002 yesterday at Maroochydore FPV. They had a GT Day withAllan Moffat as guest speaker. It had been restored back to original condition. They also had the GTHO Phase I,II,III & IV Race cars. It was amazing tosee. . I think FPV will be doing these days around Australia so hopefully theywill bring these cars with them for you to see. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Doug Cox Posted 847 days ago Funny that. #002 was actually the first Bathurst model, the 30 runningfrom #002 to #031. #001 was a 'standard' model. I remember seeing #002 a couple of times, about 1980, first in Dave Price CrashRepairs getting a new roof after hitting a horse near Giru. Took the roof offclean as a whistle. Saw it later, I think it was owned by an army bloke at the time, seemed to havebeen lowered, had mega-buck, ultra wide wheels with very expensive low-profilePirellis and was fitted with a roll cage. Dunno where it is now... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tony Christensen Posted 1391 days ago As an apprentice when thexc Cobras came out I did the pre delivery inspection on #002 that had beenbought by Keith Goodall. The anti tramp rod was not fitted and was lying in theboot , when we tried to fit it the U bolts would not straddle the rod end. There was a transmission cooler but no pump . I thought Keith would 'hit theroof'', but he told me he wasn't worried but just told me to keep all thefactory documentation that was scattered. Hi smally351,
It must have been number 25 you had at your work shop, number 27 has been in Brisbane since 1978 owned by my uncle, he purchased it from a Ford dealer in Brisbane after it was used as one marshals car at Bathurst in 78. No 48 and 369 are also owned by members of my family. Regards Paul |

That is my uncles car, the paint is original but the stickers were put back on a few years ago back to the original specs, my uncles says it was the pace car but there were more than one used as marhals cars that week end so that is up for debate as the owners of the other cobras used that weekend will argue there car was the official pace car ?? cheers Paul |

it was orinally rolled then purchased repaired then raced cant rember which issue of amc its in but like i said its the only genuine falcon cobra raced at bathurst its still owned by the watson family if i recall currently under restoration back to original cobra spec.
The driver who raced the car is also building a replica of this cobra he kept all the stickers of the car when they retired it from racing to give back to the watson family. |

I know of three in Ballarat area. Not sure of the numbers of any of them but one was allegedly bought out of an old guy's shed about 18 months ago. The guy that has it now reckons it hadn't moved in over 20 years but in real good condition. And if i mentioned what he told me he paid for it we would all cry (I am). I'll see if i can suss out any numbers

Johnny the "nut job" from Aussie Coupes has generated a coupe registry and it has 6 listed Cobra's with all their build detail.
....by nut job I mean coupe freak.... well, he does run the Aussie Coupe site!!

Cobra 340 was sold July 2010 I did speak with the new owner at the time, it doesn't look any different now than it did then. Seat material is extremley hard to get these day's the company that did the last 3 runs went into liquidation one month after the last run so that's the end of that source.

Hey guys just came across this, we certainly are still in business and have cobra material coming, just taking a little longer than hoped but it is going to happen.
Just like the XD/XE ESP and XC HOUNDSTOOTH materials we have reproduced, our Cobra trim will be hard to pick from original. Quote:
