I was parked next to Karls amazing XB GT Coupe at the show and shine which drew a huge crowd. Our Coupes were opposites, one was restored to perfection and the other basically Hot Rodded. Was a great day.

As you can see from the above pics the boot has finally been trimmed. It was done by Steve at Stateside trim and I'm very happy with everything he has done. I took it to the Barossa Valley Ford Club show and shine again that year and to the GT Club display day in 2010.

The XB ute parked next to me is Ryans [bionic2006xr6t] Dads.

In 2011 my goal was to get the GT ready for the Hardtop Anniversary at Echuca. I had a huge list of things I wanted to do but as per usual I only had the time and money to focus on a few of them. I wanted a better tune in the motor which meant converting it from a batch fire to full sequential injection. With the help of my Nephew Nigel [Strength Mechanical, Tanunda] an MSD magnetic pickup was fitted to the cam gear and wired into the MoTec ECU. While this was happening the old Pacemaker extractors were tossed and with the help of my good friends Marshy and Jake we set about making new extractors which would give me some ground clearance. Pacemaker supplied me with the basic sections and we started dummying and cutting.

















They took 3 weeks to make and were then sent to get ceramic coated as per the last pics. Very happy with them, thanks to Marshy and Jake.
The 3.7 slipper was removed and the 4.11 spooled diff centre fitted for the drags at Heathcote. A bunch of other things were done, but as its getting late I will get into them next time - Cheers

Hey glen just a few things. The exhaust seems tailored for drag use as when the outlets are shut the exhaust has to make a 90* turn. Also the 4 pipes into the collector seem to taper too soon. Just wondering about that and if the exhaust guys mentioned anything about the two.

I did do the pipes a lot like the old super stock cars of the 60,s. Probably hard to believe but the 90 degree bend is a bit of an optical illusion as you can see straight down the collector from the exhaust. Collector is 3 1/2 inch and exhaust 3 inch. Length of the four pipes is shorter, but not much. Would have worked better with my old combo, not sure about the new motor. The best thing is that I can take the pipes off without lifting the motor [could'nt do that with the old pacemakers].

That was my one and only burnout at Heathecote, damage previously mentioned. Withstanding that, I had a great time and will not miss the next one in 2013.

Spent last Thursday, Friday and Saturday working on the old girl! Marshy's hoist was free and the plethora of Mopars he's been building/working on for customers were elsewhere so we got into it (mornings at least - 40+ degree days - hate to think how hot the shed got!)

Ripped out the old diff and sat the new one in. Marshy had already machined the hats to fit and made cardboard templates of the brackets needed to mount the 4 spots.




Didnt take us to long to make the mounting plates from 1/2 inch plate, and tack them on. That was enough for thurs, time for a few paleys.

Friday we got into the handbrake calipers. They are wilwood go cart brakes and needed quite a bit of work to fit my rotors. They are meant to be floating but we didnt want them rattling so we solid mounted them on 10mm plate and will make some shims for when they need adjusting.



We didnt actually get this far friday, I'd just finished night shift and couldnt wait to attack Marshy's fridge; guessing it was about 48 degrees in his shed when I cracked the first one.

Saturday we also worked on fitting the factory style tramp bar/top links on the diff. We will probably use Left and right hand thread rod ends so they can be adjusted. The springs will need some work on the front half for 1/4 mile launches as I think the links will encourage the springs to open up and produce tramp.



We then pulled the new diff out and put the old back in. Cruised her home and tucked her in Sunday. When Marshy gets some time when its cool he'll TIG it up.

Any reason you didnt go with the rear willwoods with the intergrated park brake?

Yea, coz they look so much different to my front set up. A mate runs them on a track car and took the guts out of them to save weight; he thought they were too heavy. My brakes are light but I guess the car is still way too heavy. Also I like the effeciency of a 3 piece hub/hat/rotor.

I think they will work well, but I've been known to be wrong before.
I havent had a handbrake in it since the eighties. Bad me I know!

since the 80's! i remember my handbrake seized one day and i didn't have one and i hated it! Kept thinking it would jump out of gear and roll away so whenever i parked it on the road anywhere always searched for something to chock the tyre with. Anyway looks pretty nifty hope it works well.

Nice and cool today so she's all welded. Next step is to machine all mating surfaces and then blast the axle tubes etc, then I can make it look purty!

Had my car on display at Tyreright Woodville yesterday as they had Allan Moffat there for the opening. What a great bloke, he didnt stop meeting, greeting and autographing for nearly five hours. I had a long wait to wrestle him away for the following pic. They had a bouncy castle, free sausage sizzle, free icecreams and face painting, triple m was there etc. I think they were still surprised how many people turned up. Allan was booked from 10am to 2pm and was still going at 3pm; he said he would keep going til he got through everybody, twas a great day.

Nice coupe, sorry to bring up an old thread but what size rims and tyres are your running.

They look like 17 x 8's on the front, are they 17 x 10's on the back and what size rubber have you got on the back.
