They should have just imported some cheap POS from Thailand or Korea, slapped a Ford badge on it, and Marketed the crap out of it. The vast majority of SUV buyers will never require their AWD, they don't tow, they certainly never go off-road, and they wouldn't know good handling if it bit them on the ***. Most who buy "7-seaters" don't actually need them (which is perfect because in most of these "SUVs" the back seats are only for legless dwarves and leave enough boot space for a pair of shoes) so they're happy to buy pumped up little hatchbacks. People who moan about their Territories requiring maintenance should have a look at the Craptivas and other Korean & Thai rubbish. ALL that matters now days is that they are cheap and look great (and "feature-packed") when new. Really, the fact that there are actually people in this country who buy Great Walls, Cherrys and Gheelys, says it all.

This. Especially, as I mentioned, on release and early on in their cycles. Then compared to the best the world had on offer at twice the price or more the Great Walls, Cherrys and Geelys in regards to being transport were up there with the world market leaders at a fraction of the price. This is an incredible achievement, and perhaps the most noteworthy achievement of any Chinese manufacturer ever when compared to competitors in its segment globally and its price point.
