Well just quickly, many dealers undertook very expensive building upgrades on the basis of advise that Holden was going to be around for the long term when in fact GM knew otherwise but kept quiet.
That along with GM's compensation offer to dealers are all part of court action for a reason and not all have accepted their offer. |

And if you recall, the US government sold their stock for a $10 billion loss.

I've come in very late to this thread so without haven't read any of it I'm going out on a limb to say, I don't think the Holden brand will survive.

'Aquilina to appear before Senate..." sounds very Roman indeed
Out of interest, the Aquila was the golden bird used as the standard for a Roman Legion, and the rank 'aquilifer' was the standard-bearer, a prestigious commission. The fact we've got a list of all the lost aquilae 2000 years later shows how important they were... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aquila_(Roman)

Despite now owning one, I don't like Holden. Most of their cars have been rubbish.
Kinda ironic that when they finally get some decent SUVs, they go under. As a lifelong Ford man, I'm inclined to laugh. He who laughs last, etc. But putting that aside, its all kinda sad. Another Australian iconic brand down the dunny. It's also a bit rude, that GM have basically said "Australia? nah, cbf, not worth the effort."

A long drawn out death. Just pay the dealers what is owed and **** off! I note GMSV is officially trademarked.
It is interesting but GM is on a nose in a big way when it comes to how Holden was killed off. As for the senate inquiry. What is the point at all, it is all gone. ****en paper pushers pushing more paper! |

I'm surprised that Ford doesn't have a similar arrangement to convert F150 and Super Dutys.

Walked into Westside Auto wholesalers in WA the other day, line up of ZB Commodores was crazy, all dealer demos and yard stock dumped from former Holden Dealers changing brands.
Talking to one of their sales reps, he said, it was the biggest mistake they made. No one wants them and that some had come in with very low Km's and had the Opel badging on the bodies but were same year as the Commodores. |

Holden name at closing of manufacture was (apparently) worth 140 million and GM wouldn't sell when an offer was made.
Prior to departing RHD market announcement, they offered it to PSA (Puegot) for 60 million. PSA declined as they believed without manufacturing it was worth less than 20 million. I bet they wished they had taken the offer, allowed Holden to sink or swim under different ownership. |

"Hello! We are currently working with dealers to clear a high volume of new car stock. Can I ask what make and model are you interested in?" I shouldve responded... HK monaro. I think Holden would sell more of those if they had them, than ZB's . ![]() |

Bye bye.
https://www.caradvice.com.au/920758/...-january-2021/ On a side note: My brother's MY12 VE SS redline won't start. He has to wait a month before any of the remaining Holden service centers can look at. He always was a Richardhead so I'm lolling at his misfortune.

right, lets get this thread back on track.
I believe Holden only sold less than 40 commodores the private buyers. The rest of the numbers were fleet. Thank goodness theyve got the Colorado is all im saying |
