All of the European forums I'm a member of seem to indicate to the contrary. They aren't recognizing the TSB either.

Have you got a link?

Id say you're one of the others that FoA were mentioning when I asked about the issue

They wanted my Vin and dealer to organize the swap, but since the initial discussion FoA have been quiet, FoA said they would forward me a date to have the work carried out

Either way it will be done sooner or later as its a safety issue

It isn't a safety issue at all, the standard engine mount makes an unpleasant noise as it hits the maximum travel point - that is what the American TSB is for, the noise and thud sensation.

Contrary to what you read on the American forums the engine does NOT hit the firewall, it cannot physically even get close. I investigated this when I was fitting my lower mount and it goes absolutely nowhere near. The only way you would perhaps get any engine on firewall contact is if you broke all 3 mounts - in which case you would be up s*** creek anyway.

That still doesn't answer the question as to what parts are supposedly going to be getting fitted, because the parts used in the US are not available in Australia or Europe for that matter.

The replacement lower engine mount is the same as the Focus Electric that is currently sold in the US only but scheduled for EUR market later this year
Apparently all later 2013 ST already has this mount ??

Im sure getting the needed parts wont be a problem as most of the ST replacement parts would need to be ordered offshore anyway

I have done a fair few engine conversions over the years and made plenty of engine mounts, To me the movement is unacceptable and WILL cause issues over time

take a look at exactly how much movement is in there

None of the European STs to date have had the electric Focus mount fitted from manufacture.

I know exactly how much movement is in the stock mount, the XR5 and RS use an identical mount - I had an XR5 a few years ago and it suffered from exactly the same issue. There are XR5s I have seen with well over 100k and the stock mount is still holding on.

I want a solution to the problem as much as the next person, but at this particular moment in time there is not a fix locally. You are right when you say that the mounts are the same world wide - yes, the factory fitted mounts are, however this TSB refers to the replacement of all 3 mounts along with a clutch line. None of the TSB parts numbers are valid in the local spare parts catalogue, nor are they in Europe.

Dropped mine off for its 3,000km service this morning. Had a good chat with the service manager and I asked about supplying the oil at future services. She had no problem with that and also wasnt too fussed about oil meeting the Ford approval just as long as the same grade (5W30) is used. Comon sense prevails...

Also when using my iPhone 5 to bluetooth music I dont get the artist or song details which means I cant use Sync. Is this just the way it is or should these details be shown?

Hi Michael, at this stage, we are still investigating whether the TSB released in the US applies to Focus ST sold in Australia. We expect to have completed the investigations shortly and will have more information at that time. In the interim, if you have any further questions or concerns, please get in touch with Ford CRC on customers@fordcrc.com.au

They sent the same message to me when I quizzed them about it several weeks ago.

There is a big difference between them investigating something and someone taking their vehicle into a dealer and having it repaired.

I still stand by what I wrote -

Anyway, I'm not commenting any further about these engine mounts - what started as me defending a dealer being called conveniently clueless because they knew nothing about this has gone too far.

Having previously been in their shoes working in service departments I can sympathise how frustrating and annoying it was having people come in complaining about things that they read about on overseas forums and ending up abusing you or calling all sorts of names, all because you happened to not know something about TSB's or recalls from overseas.

Spend your money on tyres, stock suspension will be fine unless you're doing serious track work

Yeah I can't complain, they are a far bit better than the Contis fitted to the XR5. Tyre life will be interesting. I had 2 sets fitted to my XR5 in 60k

Interesting, I always assumed the 0-100 not matching the torque and power output would have been a tyre limitation? Maybe that issue falls down to a combination of gearing and the e-diff??

The 0-100 times are probably done when the car has not many kms on the clock. I'd like to see some tests done with one with over 10,000 on it

nah that doesn't do it, its either wheel hop and a fastish launch or no hop and not so fast launch, I found 2500rpm was about the place to be to launch it kinda hard without a lot of hop

Sport mode seems to be the best, in normal mode the traction control really slows it down

Even if you turn the ESC completely off it still wont launch well

Same here. Will just get it done at the next service probably. Unless somebody else gets it done and let's us know that there are other upgrades to sync in the same update. SMS and song names over Bluetooth from iPhones anybody?

Yeah got my letter today, had about 3 phone calls from the dealership about it, said id get around to it. was going to get it done about 3 weeks ago but their system was stuffed or something, pretty sure it doesn't have any effect on the SMS over bluetooth etc as I asked that question, albeit the dealer probably doesn't know anyways.

It displays the message on the screen and will also read it out if you want.

For what it's worth though iPhones don't play the game in quite a lot of vehicles, not just the Focus. We have VWs, Mitsubishis, Hyundai/Kias and Isuzus in our fleet at work that will not play the game properly with iPhones - even to the point that they may be working initially but fail after updates.

It seems to be a common thing amongst OEM stereos and iPhones.
