Not sure if anyone has mentioned this before in the thread but the rear lights are in the wrong position. The Holdens have them up high in the rear guard a-la B6 A4 but in those pics they are half way down??

nothin an edit wont fix anyway - 304kw can quickly become more, and honestly, do most of you here leave your fat butt xr8's at 260? hmmmmm no, we are all enthusiasts, who succumb to the mod bug - and whinge all you like about only a 7kw increase, i am yet to see ford put out something that high yet.....

Still... I'd never give up the Holden motor for a Gen3/4.

Well then your limiting yourself - as you said 220kw....thats what the first gen 3 came out as stock.....for the pricely some of of a few g's you could get an unopened gen 3 to 300kw, thats the beauty of them - but i guess your one of the 'piston slapping, oil guzzling' sheep who believes it happened to ALL gen 3's.

Is the wing on the HSV the same as the SSV, cause it looks the same. Suprising they didn't change it. Holden obviously didn't leave HSV much room to play with, so thats why they have gone for the dodgy rear lights and tacky air vents on the front guards and tacky foglight surrounds to change the look. I think the SSV looks better.

Your logic is flawed. Logic says if weight increases and torque stays the same then it will be slower. torque is whats doing the work and we dont know how much they will have but HSV arent stupid. if its not faster then a vy2 clubsport it means its slower then a SS-V and do you really think HSV would let there cars get beat by one with at least 30 kilowatts less?
Another reason why the cars might be faster is weight distribution. Now that most of the weight is between the wheels they probably launch smoother.

You're grasping at straws aren't you...

I sence some nervousness from you guys... understandibly too seeing its facing a 3.5% drop in power to weight ratio.

No one has tested these car's performance figures in the real world, only press and media hype from Holdens spin doctors.
I don't know how you can say any of that with any confidance what so ever....

Has anyone thought that maybe the RWHP is higher with the new set-up without going over board on power numbers upgrades?.
Diff gears for getting it off the mark faster and better grip less play between gears more torque where it's needed.

Nope... just looking at things rationally using common sense and an analytical approach, as opposed to blind "fan boy woofing"...

yep, good suggestion, it might be, but then again it might not either.. what if the opposite exists? again, lets see what happens in the real world hey?

I'm just going on the reviews i read and how the seem to lean towards the SSV being more poky off the mark, So I'm thinking they have tried to set it up to move quicker but that might hurt the top end speed. But not many of us get the chance to top 200 I'm to chicken.

We dont even know the power levels yet. We will on monday but i just think people shouldnt look at the power to weight ratio to say it will be slower there are a lot more factors involved then power that decide how fast it is.

These claims of the Clubby being faster then before could be attributed to this 6 speed they have. Remember how good the 6 speed made the Typhoon? Who says the same couldnt happen here. We have no idea how good this gearbox is compared to say the ZF box in the Typhoon.

It is an almost entirely irrelevant figure.

The Gen3 will never have the charm of the aussie 5.0, or the windsor for that matter. I find the old school V8's to be irresistible, in the end, the ultimate power output on paper doesnt bother me, that's why I didnt buy a Gen 3.

We do have some idea, in the latest MOTOR magazine they basically called it poo compared to the ZF.

But yeah, in true GM style, its crude but does the job.

That was only 1, But many others have praised it but still say ZF is the bench mark, I think there is a big difference between saying it's poo and very good but not the best;).

The rear lights looks terrible.
The body is not growing on me
The front lights IMO are Astra-inspired

I say that beyond the original, "look! New Holden" hype, people will get sick of it.

Funny how Ford never gets the same publicity, or so it appears.

hahaha for the first time since the vx went against the mitsubishi tail lights!
well done holden but now we know why you used the mitsu tail lights to begine with :P coz yours are rubbish.
flame if you wish my opinion i hate it looks way too plastic and happy

im happy about the 307kw though. hsv have the goods to send out a 350+ kw car but if they do the hippies will hate it and fit about to the gov and supercar scare all over again.
car manufacturers seem nervous to jump over the 300kw line

I think car sales showed that people didnt get sick of the 9 year old VT.
So what makes you think people will get sick of a car that might have a life cycle of only 6 years?.

It isn't the car itself that I feel people are getting excited about. It's the hype itself.

Much like when they gave Malibu Stacey a crappy new hat to combat Lisa Lionheart.

"Holden -now with coloured airconditioning knobs"

I am not excited by Holden. Although I was slow to accept the VY, in the end I liked it. THis car leaves me cold as turkey.

But keep in mind, only my opinion. And I am an idiot in some respects :P

About 80% of that money was spent on employing people who can actually think for themselves.
