Nice dry day at last so I gteched myself out.

I did a few practice runs getting a best 6.74 to 100!

However doing it on a two way 3 runs back to back average on my "test track" which is nice and level. The average is 7.15 sec to 100 or actually 60mph so its truly to 96kmh.

for the 1/4 mile or 400m it gave me an average 16.34 @ 90.9mph.

The ET seems badly wrong but the TS seems about right.

I find the same thing. 0-100 is good, TS tad high but pretty close - ~1/2 on the high side, ET about 1.0s off on the slow side compared to the track.

Stockstandard any idea why the ET is off that much?

I Have done lots of runs at WSID and I don't think I have run one this slow.

My TS have been from 89 to 90mph though which does line up well.

I know you can shallow stage to hit the start line with a leap of a launch but trust me in my AU Auto wagon all this shallow stage stuff is just a bit too technical for a 15 sec car and I doubt I am that good at the launch even though I do practice.

91 mph TS seems awful fast for 16.3 ET too.

Talk about high MPH - I run an average of 15.5@97MPH on my gtech. MPH is always going to be higher than the track because it measures it differently. Not sure why ET is slow though (not all units give slower times either), maybe less traction on the road compared to the track. I have never had my g-tech give me a 14s pass, and I dont seem to get any consistancy out of the 1/4 mode either. Ill do one run get a 15.3, do another, get a better launch, the run feels much faster on the bun-o-meter and it will end up being a 16.1. Other units are off in the drivers favour by a few seconds. Getting an accurate g-tech seems to be very hit and miss.

I only go by 0-100 times now because that seems to be accurate to an acceptable level.

oh - and when your running 15s, that is the best time to shallow stage.

u shouldnt take the g-tech seriously when it comes to 1/4 mile times

to really test it out go to the track and turn it on whilst doing a run and see if it matches what the timing screen says

remember the timing screen never lies

JonBays .If you got 6.74 seconds then your best 0-100 is 6.74.

The gtech does not give accurate horsepower times and it seems 1/4 mile either ,but does run 0-100 time very consistently.

OK, these calculated figures are just getting srupid. There's no way Minge's car would get enough traction for a 3 second 0-100. Sh!t, the best bikes in the world struggle to get that. I think V8 supercars are in the 4 second bracket, and they have wings, slicks etc to get them to stick to the surface. This thread is supposed to be a thread of real 0-100 times, not imaginary times calculated off a timeslip that assumes perfect traction in perfect conditions. In fact, the following is taken directly from that site:

"These calculators are based upon formulas circulating the Internet, that are believed to be close estimates for the average car's performance. These numbers do not mean anything in real life, but they provide a good "estimate" at best. Keep this in mind before you spill these numbers all over your favorite car forums.

Many other factors, such as gearing, power curve, drivetrain, and traction relate to acceleration and general car performance. "

Can we please get back to some sort of reality here? If you haven't run the time, don't list it.

Hi JC...

My car ran a 4.988 sec 0-100kph at eastern creek....in 40 degree temps....i believe the figures are quite accurate based on ideal conditions. I also had a quicker 1/8 mile figure compared to a BA GT that runs 13.4's...over the same quarter.

Cheers.

Impressed with some of these times especially some of those recorded for the 6 with stock auto and diff ect. Youve given me some inspiration to get mine up to spec.
Thanks Tim

I dont have a g-tech so the best i can do really is provide the times that the calc give me from a timesheet from the drags. I am thinking it would be a little off as it is only to 60mph anyways.

I think the calc is overly generous the faster you got down the 1/8th. Thats why I have a GTech time in there.
Personally I think my race trim time should be closer to 6.5 seconds and, considering that both the calc and gtech as off my best times, a 7.0 on the road is far more likely for my car on a day to day basis.

Still, its all just a bit of fun. I dont take it too serious these days. Only real number that is verifiable is on my timeslips..... and thats all I'm out to improve. Given I dont do traffic light drags anyhow my 0-100 on the road is pretty redundant.

This calc gives me a 5.68.

So using my 1/4 time and the 2 calcs I get 5.42 and 5.68

If i work it so that the 0-60 gives me my proper 1/4 mile time then my time is more like 6.22 seconds.

My 98 Fairmont with Tickford Intake snorkle, and Sports exhaust does 8sec 0-100km/h. Thats with a half a tank of fuel, on about a 16 deg night, and my fat *** in there. Im happy with that for the time being.
