Hello Fadi,
I have found a FPV Dual Zone Control ICC unit, but the std LCD (color) is damaged. It was promissed in spotless condition, but upon arrival, I discovered the anti-glare coating on this color lcd is damaged - some scratches :(

Have you got any very good condition 2nd hand, or new color LCD's for sale, maybe some that came from changeover from color lcd to tft screen?

I would appreciate if you can give me an idea, I can exchange my lcd which is color lcd, but the anti-glare coating has been scratched.

Any idea on pricing, and when I can collect it from your premises?

What would you charge me to prgram my BEM from manual ICC to fit the new Dual Zone ICC? It is the high level BEM unit...

Kind regards,
Phillip aka MrBean

Default Keeping ICC upright

Hi Fadi,
I was considering an ICC change and have heard that you are supposed to keep the ICC unit upright. I find it hard to believe a device that is installed in a car which undergoes all sorts of G forces could be quite so delicate. I thought maybe you could help me with the real story.
Cheers,
Jim

Cheers Fadi,
I got a thread going in the Territory section and there is talk of mercury switches killing electronics. I am still laughing at that one.
Thank again,

Yeah, I think someone is telling big porkies about turning it upside down etc.

Out of curiosity, are there only 2 types of screens? Colour (the large size) and Green or White (XT/Futura/Fairmont/XR) with the smaller size?

Default Mono to colour conversion.

Hi Fadi,
A couple of questions and an idea I wanted to bounce off you.

I have an electronics background so we can get technical if need be. I have never actually looked at an ICC out of a vehicle so I'm taking some guesses at the setup. Is a mono to colour conversion simply a case of replacing the LCD with a colour TFT unit? i.e, is the video generated in the same module, in colour?
Next, I find it interesting that the units are NTSC (I guess the PAL market isn't as big as the North American driven NTSC market). Also interesting is the way everyone is always wanting to add on video sources which is requiring an NTSC source and RGB converter (educated guesses here). Would it be possible in your opinion to replace the LCD with a more generic unit that handles PAL and NTSC?
Maybe even throw in a touchscreen too for good measure. Would this be mechanically viable first? Then I could just provide an interface from the video module of the ICC to make the controls visible. This would be a great setup for a car PC or 3rd party navigation system.
Let me know your thoughts. You obviously have a vast amount of experience with these units.
Failing that I think I will get a 2nd hand unit soon and have a poke around.
What do you charge for a mono to colour TFT LCD change?
Cheers,
Jim

Hi Jim,

All you have asked has been looked into. If this was possible I'm sure it would be mentioned on the forums. Most TFT screens are just composite RCA input. The ICC has a unique protocol which can interpret CAN inputs and sent the required information to the screen which uses 22 feeds. The extra input to the screen was designed simply for SAT NAV and is independent from the ICC feed. The fact that it can be utilised for such things as DVD and reverse camera are just a bonus. The most I have seen is a relocation of the mono screen to down below and an aftermarket LCD placed up the top. After a bit of fibreglass work the units look quite neat. Fadi will PM you with a costing of the mono to colour TFT change.

Cheers

Greg

if you mean to change from manual controls to dual climate control, we can supply you with dual climate control ICC, however you have to achieve few engine work and fit extra parts. we don't recommend here as it will get bit expensive, not sure if its worth doing!!!!

cheers

Hi

To clear some confusion to some customers, we can do an upgraded changeover ICC. Basically you hold on to yours till you recieve the upgraded ICC, fit in ur car then return the original non upgraded ICC back to us. When we send the upgraded ICC there is no need to go through a ford dealership to reprogram ICC. All the work will be done HERE at ASL, basically just plug in and play.

regards

Hi

what we do is modify your ICC radio module to have RCA leads where it allows you to add extra amps/sub woofer or speakers. this mod will have a remote wire as well. we do it that way so there is no engine or electrical noise will occur when tapping on speaker wires or using other methods. $220.00 or $275.00 fitted back in your car.

cheers

This may be a dumb question but is there the availablity of mp3 playback thru the premium system or do you have to add the Aux port to plug Ipod/Mp3 source?
